Last time I was in bend was in July. Went over to crooked river ranch in Terrebonne...I'm sure you know where that's at. lol. But usually I take a trip there every once in awhile to East Fort Rock to go dirt biking. Nice to see someone from Oregon though
oregon rocks next time your in the the bend area we should go wheelin or riding .

I didn't have one for high school. I did have one for college, though, and it meant graduating or not lol. Good luck with whatever you choose.

When you get it to work you'll have something really neat that you did yourself and an OBW system that you can use for trail repairs once you rat hole the money for the SAS and start wheeling.

Another advantage is that you won't have your truck torn apart for the project.

*luagh* For my senior project about a thousand years ago I took a 1964 Ford T-bid 390 and punched that pig to a 422 and dropped it into a 76 drag truck. Heck of a lot of fun at 6 mpg in town and that thing still had "go" when the speedo was pegged and the front end, fenders and hood were shaking so bad I thought the truck would fly apart. I never did find out how fast it would really go, stop light to stop light was enough for me.
That would be quite a project...and I have no clue how you would do that. I would need some help or at least a write-up of some sort. lol.

That sounds like a fun truck! As long as you enjoyed it thats all that matters!

Yeah definitely!

My little bro is doing his senior project on building figure 8 race cars, and we are here in WA.

FWIW...the Senior project is the worst idea ever....

And that is where the "project" part comes in. Do the research (it's out there), source your parts, put together a theory on how it should work to include basic and complex electrical behavior studies. Show how a mild amount of current can be stepped up (much like a transformer only in reverse) to create enough strength to heat metal to the point of liquid. Do it all on a minimal budget and with safety the foremost thought in your mind and I think you'll do well.

Then sell me the damn welder.

Yeah it is...if I didn't just start working I would never be able to afford it. Sounds pretty fun for him though! Hope he learns a lot!

LOL...I'll definitely look into it. Sounds like a good idea though! I should probably fix my truck first.

I had to do one of these, too in HS. My advice to you is to keep it simple, too keep the cost, time, and labor down. Mine was a partial restoration of a 1981 Honda Trail 110. I chose to call it partial, so I could get away with just getting it in good running order, rather than completely restoring it. I rebuilt the carburetor, put new brakes on it, new tires, new battery, changed all fluids, and cleaned it up and polished the chrome. 20 hours was the target time required by the school, and it took about 11, but I got it over with, and only spent about $100.
