Runs rough then dies
alright guys here is where im at and im stumped....me and another guy install my used motor in my truck got everything hooked up and it ran real rough. well the mechanic said it may have been sitting for a while maybe i should run it. so i did and had to be pulled back. but now it cranks and runs for about 20 secs and dies out. acts like its starving for gas or something. any suggestions. i used my intake so i know the injectors and fuel pump and stuff are good also put a new fuel filter on.
im stumped help please.....oh and this is a 94 22re automatic

There are so many things that could be wrong don't know where to start. Need more details about exactly what he did, how many miles on the motor, why was it replaced, etc.

the motor was replaced cause the other one had a rod bearing out in it and bad knock.......the new motor has right at 200k on it i know thats alot but it was in a 2 wheel drive truck and looked to very well kept up. also i couldn't afford the new route........i just don't know and getting frustrated i know its something simple just don't know where to start. also could the vacuum lines cause this. I think they are all hooked up right but who knows its a hornets nest on top of that valve cover

ok we started with the obvious and the fuel pump wasn't running so i jumped it in the diagnostics and it cut on. so my question is now the fuses are good so what else tell the pump to run?

did you check the fuel pump relay? kinda hard to check these though without making up some sort of wire jig, I usually just replace them if there is any doubt. If it's not it, at least you have a back up.

i don't know we traced down the fuel pump wires and found everything was in order then broke the line at the fuel filter and nothing came out while we were jumping in the digonistics box. so then i loosened the gas cap and it was a vacuum. then i got worried so i called and asked the boy if the gauge worked........then i went to cussing alot...lol
