Rocker panel replacement

The rocker panels on my '91 are dented all in and I'm looking to replace them. I guess thats what they're called, its the part of the cab that runs just below the door. anyway, i was wondering if any of y'all knew where I could order new ones from?

If I have to cut them out of another cab, thats ok. just don't want to deal with it if I don't have to.

Uh ... that truck's already 21-years old. How old is it going to be by the time your son gets it?

4 years is a lot longer than a minute, lol

have you ever done any bodywork? i have, three semesters of it, and i wouldn't replace dented rockers unless they were rusty, or just completely wasted.

got any pics of the damage?

Well, other things got in the way of working on the yota for a while.

No, no body work. I'll snap a pic or two when I get home this evening. They're not rusty, just dented pretty good.

You're going to have to do some fabrication work to do the stock rocker replacement, so why not just replace them with a piece of box tube that's cheaper, simpler and much much stronger? It's fairly common in the 4x4 community to replace rockers with a piece of tube. Depending on the size of box tube you may not even notice it, but if you make them wide they will act as a step and slider, which is good even for just pavement pounding -- imagine having extra impact resistance from door dings, shopping carts, t-bone, etc etc.

I have a guy in my area who parts out older pickups & 4runners. He might have some OEM rocker panels for your truck. I put his website below.

Also a couple options here, though I know nothing of the process of actually replacing them.

Yeah. Alfaparts sent me rockers for the wrong model 4Runner. They had a completely different profile so there was no cutting and fitting. At $30 shipping I didn't send them back. They did seem like nice thick steel though. Very disappointed.
