replacing PCV valve- shoudl i replace the grommet too?

I want to do it right, already have a new FRAM PCV valve for my '90 22RE. Do I have to replace the grommet if it's in decent shape/ if it doesn't break in the process? Is there any benefit to replacing the grommet anyway?

If its dry rotted and cracked looking id say sure why not. If not don't bother. I just threw a new pcv on mine and didn't touch the grommet no problems

I've found my old grommet was pretty hard and brittle, so it is good to replace it. Also makes installing the new PCV a lot easier with the new soft grommet.

The grommet is cheap so replace it.

Would you install a new engine without replacing the spark plugs?

Make sure you put oil or some other kind of lube on the grommet when installing it. It helps alot lol.

Haha, have fun! It took me prying both hands while holding the vc with my feet for 10 mins to pry that sob out.

I replaced mine recently. It was brittle and had a very loose fit to the PCV valve. I am sure air was leaking through it.
