Replacing my power antenna

Some charming person decided to snap my antenna off a while ago. When Toyota informed me that a new one from the dealer would cost me roughly the equivalent of Paraguays GNP I devided i could live without it for now. Are there any alternatives I saw a bunch of universal power ants. at the auto parts store but didnt have time to investigate more. Thanks in advance for help......

PS this is for an 89' 1st gen 4Runner V6 SR5

I just used a non-power whip antenna from a non-power antenna 1st gen 4Runner.

Believe it or not mine flew out of the shaft and was connected by that little plastic cable that works as a gear to drive the antenna up and down. Then agian it was already broke asit wouldnt retract fully down or up.

I snapped the piece off and cut the cable, then I simply put the antenna back on and used electrical tape to hold it. Reception works fine and is just as good, and it has stayed on. Plus if I wanna lower it get out and push the top part down and it is no more than 12" high.

Course I could go to the trouble of soldering it together but nah..just gonna wait and buiy a taco whip antenna later.
