replacement engines
Hey everyone, new to this forum. I posted this in the newbie tech forum also, but upon a bit more browsing around, that didn't seem to be the best place to put it.
Formerly, I had an '87 P/U running a 22RE with a whole host of changes (including bobbed bed) to long to list. But, sadly I sold her a couple years ago.
That being said, I've come across an opportunity to acquire a '93 4Runner 4x4 5spd with an engine that's going bad (crank is knocking). So I'll need to find a replacement V6 for her. Swapping it in myself isn't an issue, but I have no idea these days where to look for a new motor.
I'm located in Athens, GA, and can travel 150mi any direction to pickup a motor, or have one shipped to a friends shop. My budget for this is around $1100 for the new engine.
I've been dying for a chance to get back into a Toy, and this is a great chance for me to do it. I already know the first set of mod's I'll do, 3" lift, new driveshafts, extended breathers for the drivetrain, and later down the road some goodies from Marlin Crawler
I've also considered the possibility of putting in a 3.9 Cummins Diesel (4cyl). Not sure if Advance Adapters or someone my have something to marry up that engine to the trans in the '93 4runner's, but its an option I'm open to considering.
Any thoughts, ideas, commentary?
