Replaced knock sensor...still code 52???

I've had a code 52 for a long time. I tested the continuity of the wire and the shielding around it, and it was fine.

So, I finally broke down and got a knock sensor; put it in, drove about 1/8th a mile, code 52 again....so I'm lost now.

The knock sensor I got had a different connector on it, so I had to trim the plastic around the plug to get the metal contact to fit the plug....but it's just a single pin, so I can't imagine it matters.

So, is the ECU all that's left? HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!

I've read on a couple different boards that it is usually a good idea to replace the wire at the time you replace the sensor. Dunno why this is, but MANY board contributors suggest it. Evidently, the wire (itself) is a known culprit.

Well, I said to heck with it and pulled the knock sensor, tore off the plug/connector from the wire and soldered the dang wire on the connector on the knock sensor and sealed it up....no more code 52....lol

Knock sensor location?

I have a 93 SR5 3VZE. Can you tell me where the knock sensor is located? Thanks.

The knock sensor is under your intake manifold, on top of the block.

Yep. You can't see it without the plenum off. While yer under there, swap out your PCV valve. They're cheap and practially impossible to replace with the plenum intact.

22re knock sensors are really easy....right by the oil filter and fuel filter.

the only reason i didn't mess w/ it sooner was the nightmare stories i had heard about changing it....but that was for the 3vze!
