Rebuilt 3vze, still no power.

Careful, I've read 3vze's are picky about their exhaust and like some back pressure. That said i'm looking at doing something similar, maybe drilling or making the old cat "more high flowing" just to prevent this from happening again.

Well still nothing. Haven't checked compression yet but again it's a relatively no mileage engine. The weird thing is when the dist was off a gear but the timing set it sparked knocked a good bit but had a "little" power then. Got the distributor right and timing set to 12 degrees and has NO POWER. Straight piped the converters and still nothing. I don't know where to go from here!

Well broke down and took my piece to a reputable Japanese repair shop that said they had a tech very familiar with the 3VZ. They said for some reason it's not getting fuel to the driver side of the engine but they'll have to pull the intake manifold to see. Anyone run into anything like this before? They want about $800 to remove the intake and inspect. Thanks!

For refence, it took years but the truck finally feels like a 4000lb with 150hp or so.
The answer was the ignition coil. The car never ran "badly" on the worn out coil, just lacked any power under any loads. Swapped to a new NKG coil and it was night and day.
