3vze bogging down and sluggish before 2500rpm

I recently bought a 1989 toyota 4x4 with the 3vze in it, and it just cranked over 200,000 miles. The truck runs great and really quiet, but will be really sluggish in second and third gear below 2500rpms and then gets a sudden "burst" of power. During the bogging down, the engine sounds totally starved which makes it seem as though its a fuel problem, but i could be wrong. The truck bucks back and forth until in gets over 2500rpm and then accelerates in a hurry and feels great! My first thought was maybe clutch chatter, but the clutch feels decently strong, and seems like a fuel problem? If anyone on here has had the same thing happen to them, your thoughts and advice would be greatly apprectiated! Thanks for your time!

don't know too much about the 3.0 but here is general things to check when any motor does this: fuel filter, spark plugs, ignition timing, fuel pressure regulator, throttle position sensor, 02 sensor, air filter.

yeah i agree with you on that it won't get out of its own way lol but the adjusting the ignition timing was all it need to accelerate smoothly!
