fuel system problems

99 tacoma 2.7, 225,000 pulled over shut off engine, wouldn't restart, turns over, 20 mins later got it started. stopped at two places on the way home, started both times. next morning, wouldn't start but turns over, thought I heard a hum last couple of days. Any suggestions

I don`t know anything about the 2.7, but i would change the fuel filter and see if that helps, also check the fuel presure to make sure the fuel pump is working.
