Rear window wont go down(searched)
Hi
My rear window decided not to go down at most inappropriate time-just try to imagine how much fun was trying to get 3 dead deer out of the back .
I can see that it would go up - when I flip the console switch I can hear the relay clicking and the voltage going down, but when I push down-nothing-what could be the problem?Oh yes the rear key switch doesn't work for a long time.
Is there any way to bring the window down? Is there any way to bypass all of that security switches and relays and make a direct connection-pics please-Electricity is realy not my thing .
The truck is going to get complete bodywork done this week and I'm realy thinking of replacing that rear window with classic window with hinges-anybody done that?
Cheers!

have sombody try to pull the window down as you're pushing the button. Sometimes mine gets stuck. Try making it go up further then back down again...

Well, it might be pretty difficult...and definitely gross, but you could crawl into the back, unscrew the cover on the tailgate, reach in and disconnect the plastic connector at the motor, then run power directly to it. If you hear the motor go but it doesn't go up, then reverse polarity (swap the negative and positive location) and it should go down. I did this when my wiring died. I put jumper cables on my battery, then ran some wire from the clamps into the rear window, then touched the wires to the connectors on the motor. It is a PITA, especially with dead deer in the back but it works.

turn the rear wiper on and then off and have someone (or you if you are alone) run to the back and make sure the rear wiper goes all the way to its seating spot. The rear window will not go down if the rear wiper is not fully seated in its resting spot. It is a safety feature that the wiper will not work if the window is not fully closed and the window will not work if the wiper is not in its proper spot to trigger the safety cut-off.

operate the widow withteh cover off... be carefull!!!
On mine the gear on the motor stripped due to a rusted up regulator...
The motor spun but the gear had no teeth so it did nothing...
Got a new motor..
Someone at one time made a gear for the motor (in BC?)

i've been through this and i've tried the wire trick. here is how you get the window down. take the back panel off, you will have to look for the motor located in the middle towards the drivers side. the motor will be facein the inside of the truck but it will be behind the big gear that you see. there are 3 bolts to the motor 8mm socket and the socket must be short. when the bolts come off the motor will come out, some people say you will need to hold up the window but that is not the case, once the motor is off you will have to force the window down. then test your motor, i had a motor but i sold it. the problem is usually the fuse box located in the rear quarter panel on the drivers side way down towards the bottom. i have one of those for sale. i hope i helped.
