Just baught a 1990 runner sr5 5 speed. The rear door light on the dash is on. the door is closed but I can't get the window to go down because it thinks the door is open. The window control beeps when I try to go up so I think it still works. Any help would be great. Thanks

Check your rear wiper position and the rear door switch (the one that shows it closed).

So I haven't tripped anywhere yet, but over the floor jack last night a time or two.

The wiper is in it's perch, Where is the Switch that tells it the tailgate is closed?

There is a lock on the inside of the tailgate. It locks the tailgate from being opened just like the locks on the doors. Lock the tailgate and the light will go off.

 

would that keep the windowand wiper from working? Thanks for the help guys.

 

wiper wont work unless the window is up... window SHOULD roll up and lock the tailgate automatically.. sounds to me like the tailgate lock mechanism is not engaging properly...

 

Has the window lock button been pressed?

Window is unlocked. Tail gate is closed, Window and wiper will not work. When I push the up button it beeps and when I go down all I here is the silonoid clicking.

 

Door is locked but light is still on.
