Rear deck lamp switch? What does it do?

89 4runner. I've got the dash tore off of it (in the process of totally redoing the dash and adding an inclinometer), and was wondering what that switch does, the "rear deck lamp" switch.

I've searched and came up with nothing.

Thanks for any help.

There is a small light on the side of the cargo area, you have to have the switch on, the headlights on, and then the switch on the actual decklamp on, haha. IF the bulb isn't burnt out, it will work. A lot of people wire it up differently so it is more convenient to use.

You gotta be kidding me.......all those wires that go into that switch, you have to go thru all those happy hoops to get that tiny little light on in the cargo area?????!!!!!!!!!

Seems like it would be better suited for running a plasma tv or something, not some 6 watt bulb!!! Geeez.

Thanks for the help.
