Quick Tip for your Dipstick
I been concerned about my poor fitting dipstick for some time. I found that it can be fixed pretty easily by slipping some 1/4" thin walled heat shrink over the barbs and then shrinking it of course. It has held up fine for several hundred miles and is easy enough to fix if it fails.
Sliding the heat shrink over the barbs did take some effort, just lube the inside of the shrink tube and the barbs with oil and push/pull it to the flange.
The only concern I would have is the tubing coming apart and ending up in your oil pan. I seriously doubt this however. Just make it long enough to cinch down around the metal portion.
Note the picture shows the shrink tubing already installed.

Nice fix. Mine's been rattling around forever. I'll probably go see what the stealership wants for a new one, eventually. The few 22r/re's in yards around here are all missing them, or just as bad..
