Post Your Pics!!!
Times 3 or 4 or whatever on the welcome to the site! Another Redrum member! Yeah boyeeeeeee!
Far as what is and what is not... I take great pride in having something clean for its age of 27 years . I've owned it for 13, and seen many miles of road and many off road trips... What really amazes me is how many people think that its a newer truck. Some of these people are not necessarily right out of high school or anything... They just don't necessarily know a lot about cars and trucks... But I'm guessing as was mentioned that these are just a timeless body style, the first gen 4Runners and 2nd gen Pickups.... But when some of the same people I've met see the next generation body style they seem to know right away what it is. Toyota Vudu I guess! Lol.
For some reason even though its just a little over a year away in age... I always think of the 3rd gen Pickups and 2nd gen 4 runners much differently... It was such a dramatic change, largely the 4Runners, regarding suspension and so forth. But mainly, the looks are just so much different.
I know there is a set standard for classic or antique... I just have a really hard time thinking of my truck as an antique. At the same time I'm really proud that it is and that it still not completely falling apart. Even funnier thing is that when I see another Toyota, such as a local that I know who has an 85 extra cab 4 wheel drive(from freaking showroom it looks like)... I always think of it as a classic! I guess we really do get attached to these things and lose perspective right? Lol. I guess anything blow 93 is technically a 20 year old semi classic... But , I guess again just from perspective, when I think classic I am still stuck in my mind with thinking of 60's and 70's and of course earlier vehicles. When I go to the yards and I see a 69 Corona... Holy crap that is a classic! Lol. I would love to bring one of those, or a 1st. Gen celica or B-series Datsun home,...... but what they truly are is a recession-unfriendly CASH-DRAIN.... Hahaha
The bottom line? He now has Toyotaticulitus! Hahaha. .... So, what was maybe a classic or semi classic, has now become a wallet succubus - member of the family! Lol
Ok, fine, POSER FLEX! Hahaha. ... Actually, I was just testing a couple of things out and found this construction site to be a good opportunity to test the bump stop height and things like that... Unfortunately, those front springs are just not broken in yet... But they will be!...
Not even close to its limits.....

Not even close to its limits.....

Wooooot! Keep killin it holmes! Haha... By the way, your little Redrum member is looking sick!

Chef, how am I crazy?! When the zombies come you don't want to be stuck changing an axle shaft when you could simply free it and run away...

Here's some pics to make you cringe.

I'm not sure of all the details, but what I heard is the guy in the black Hyundai didn't want to wait in traffic so he decided to drive down the left turn lane. My friend was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
This is the truck that actually got me into Toyotas. It was a '85 with a built 22r, 4.56s and 35s (just to list a few mods). It had been through a lot. First it was white with a wood flatbed on 33s. Then he rolled it at some point. Fixed the a-pillar. Somewhere along the way an 89-95 bed was installed. Then 35s were installed and it was covered in black plastidip (as seen on the cab in the pics). Trans blew up and sat for almost a year. Then he hit a deer. A red donor truck ('87-'88) was bought and the fenders, hood, grill, and the correct bed were installed. Such a shame...

pictures like that are the exact reason why i spend $$$ for armor all the way around. its just gets harder and harder to get replacement parts these days. plus why spend on it body parts when armor is a done deal
guess your friend will be doing some repairs?

I don't know if any amount of armor would be enough to stop the frame and axle from bending that much.
As for a new truck, I don't think that is going to happen. A couple days before this happened, he posted an ad on CL to sell it. I don't know if it was serious or not, since he's done that before. He has an SC300 that gets most of his attention now-a-days.
That's what happens. It's carma man. Every time I thought of selling my ole 87 something would go wrong. Out of curiosity, were u located.

You're not the only one who did some poser flexing today
