my crap piece!!!
Has been fun, but a headache;
cost me 2k to buy, from the origional owner- and I have spent as much or more
on ;
1) clutch kit , tranny rebuild. 1600.00
2)magnaflow exhaust/pipe 160.00
3) springs for zuk mod 30.00
4) small lift stuff-torsion bars, shocks, leafs, alignment, etc. 700.00
5) various junk for the interior and back/wheelcaps, back carpet,
clear sticky rollover stuff for back, fire ext.,lights, alarm, etc. 500.00
The zuk mod, and the magnaflow exhaust, has been the best 2 addons!!!

Forgive me here guys, 'cause some of this is going to be OT, but we all like wheeling rigs, don't we? :-]
Pics of my '90 Hilux Surf 2.4 TD:

A pic of my Unimog 406 (Haven't wheeled it yet):

My old Unimog 421 before resto (best wheeling rig ever):

Still had another 6" or so to go, but the forklift hydraulics were sticky and I chickened out

My old Unimog 421 after resto:

My old 4Runner:

My old HDJ81 (favorite DD EVER!):

Twin GT25'd Skyline GTR in tow:

Cheers,
Corey

Hey, dude! Thanks
. Yeah, I kind of slide my way in after I decided my rig was finally worthy of competition to these beautiful machines
That's what I'm hoping
. I've had my eye out for the past 2 or 3 months so far. I've seen one really good deal ($2k for a full kit) come and go in the blink of an eye before I could get an account open to pm the guy on it (damn, Dezertrangers
). I'm still a bit leery of internet transactions as I've never had any experience with them. Any horror stories, anyone?

DS- I too looked around for a good deal on my total chaos kit. $3500 for uppers and lowers is a VERY steep price, but i guess you do only have to but it once unless you somehow manage to bend the chromoly. dont forget to add in extended axles (if your running 4wd $900 about) and the shocks (around $1200 for some 2.5"s) Then about $500 for fenders. My friend had purchased all of these items, and keep in mind he is wealthy. he put the uppers on his 03 tacoma, and decided that he wanted to build a ranger with the camberg kit instead. He sold everything to me for $2500 (TC Kit, Tundra Axles, Kings, Glassworks Fenders) So stay optimistic in your hunt! the deal is out there you just have to be patient! (or spend $5k and get it now haha)

They're SWEET rigs. I bought my first one just for wheeling and because I thought it looked cool... but it got more looks than any other car I've owned!
Thanks dude! That black one is actually spray painted camo, but unfortunately I sold it/parted it out a year or so back. It just needed more work than what it was worth to me. I wish I would've kept some of those parts for my Hilux

I bought it non-running in December, 1 x $2 solenoid resistor, 1 x $100 idler arm, a ton of man hours, and some fluids and it's now my daily driver.
Most interesting fix so far was when I couldn't get the back window all the way up and finally realized that the bolts the previous owner had in the license tag were catching on the window. Weird.

Yeah, I'm on the bandwagon for you to make a build thread. You got some 'splainin' to do.....now get on with it.
