Oh, I finally got my custom snorkel built! She's made of 3" ABS tubing and 3" blue 2-ply heat duct tubing. There's a plastic grate glued onto the head of the snorkel that you can't see, though.

I picked up a used fender from a local pick n' pull. It was the exact same color, model and year .

DSMahon looks good. only one question, why didnt you do the battery swap and snorkel the passenger side? shorter cooler air flow.

to dude from previous page; 1000 for a 89 4rnr- either you totally stole, someone was desperate, or you need to get some lotto tickets right now.
Cuz even if it was ragged looking, that is a great price. Be sure to check the clutch cyl, slave clutch cyl, and have the clutch kit assy., and tranny all checked out, if they have more than 100k on them. You also may wanna check the timing belt...

But again, hugely good score, props to you!!!

rangerruck, ha yes i have checked it out! the seller had to move out of state. I called him, and let him sit for a month, until he had to sell it or pay to have it hauled. no one else called and i went in for the steal. He had it up for $3500 at first, new clutch, rebuilt trans, new rear main seal, wheel bearings, belts, points, plugs, all that good stuff. 12" sub, speakers, deck, all kenwood. it even has the altimeter and clinometer gauges. passed smog like a champ. got it home realized it had warn brand locking hubs on it. had for a month now, and just had to have the radiator patched. runs great at 225,000 miles, no timing chain slap or knocks, doesnt even use oil as far as i can tell. drove it to the snow 3 times so far, 8 hours each trip. I feel bad for the guy!...well almost haha

Yeah, that's what I was originally thinking. They were planning on bringin' new birds into the hangar, though, so I didn't want to do anything that would down the truck for any amount of time. I will be doing so in the future, though. I'm looking for deals on TC LT kits now and when that happens I'm gonna need fiberglass fenders (hannemann flat-tops, probably) so I'll do it when I get them

DS- I too looked around for a good deal on my total chaos kit. $3500 for uppers and lowers is a VERY steep price, but i guess you do only have to but it once unless you somehow manage to bend the chromoly. dont forget to add in extended axles (if your running 4wd $900 about) and the shocks (around $1200 for some 2.5"s) Then about $500 for fenders. My friend had purchased all of these items, and keep in mind he is wealthy. he put the uppers on his 03 tacoma, and decided that he wanted to build a ranger with the camberg kit instead. He sold everything to me for $2500 (TC Kit, Tundra Axles, Kings, Glassworks Fenders) So stay optimistic in your hunt! the deal is out there you just have to be patient! (or spend $5k and get it now haha)

i wouldnt want to hit a bump in that thing bye bye new tire
im more worried about my fenders getting ripped off haha. i cranked the torsions a bit. front is now only like an inch lower than the rear. if i hit a good sized bump or rut it rubs. i tried it out today at a place like 5 minutes from my house with my brother in his 1993 silverado 1500.haha we went mudding and we both have 2wd open diff trucks lol. my tires hooked up great. he got stuck, then i tried pulling him out, and the only thing we had were tie-downs, those snapped lol. then i got stuck and he had to push me and we had to dig me out. then we tried digging him out, but just our hands werent enough. i went to go drive home and get a shovel but by the time i was down the street he called me and said he got out. he was able to rock himself out. fun day. i didnt get to try any good hills, but it made it through some decent water and mud. pics are all here. you can look even if you dont have facebook

TOYO..I read your thread for you build, I'd like to see one for his too...looks like he's new to the site though.

Your build is awesome but I think it's a little far out of reach for me anyday....his looks like it kept the floor of the bed if I'm seeing it right.
