MaK92-4RnR,

I especially like your 2nd pic because you can see those Thorley headers in there. I read your post on the ISR mod as well, came out clean.

SR5, bugs1961 posted this wisdom in a couple of previous ISR threads:

"There are two hoses that come from the air cleaner and attach to pipes in the front of the intake plenum. The large one provides filtered but un-metered air to the PAIR valve. This one won't affect the engine because the VAFM doesn't take it into account. The smaller one takes filtered, metered air and feeds the idle up system. If this one isn't hooked up correctly the VAFM sensor reading will be off when the A/C or PS idle up is activated.... This will be like a fairly significant vacuum leak and will cause a lean condition. If you plan to leave the AC and PS idle up systems intact then you should put the hose after the AFM."

If you experience any idle up issues or throw a code, run a hose from that smaller tube that runs across the front of the plenum (you have a small filter on it in the pic) back to the intake tube.

Looks good,

WJ

yeah SR5, you need to have the smaller line hooked up to the intake after the VAMF, look at mine, i know the glare it bad in my pic but i have the larger line on a breather and the smaller line on a nipple.

Is there any advantage to having the larger PAIR hose connected to a breather rather than leaving the stock rhomboid box on that it connects to?

I didn't think PAIR created any performance issues. I know you might see some slight performance increase if you plug it up, but does the stock "PAIR box", inhibit the PAIR at all, or enough that a breather element would give you any performance increase, or is a breather element just to get extra stock crap out of the way?

Mak92.....What did you use to make that intake? It looks like it's marine exhaust tubing, the flexible exhaust hose that is used on inboard or I/O engines, is that what it is?

If not does anybody know if this could be used? I can get my hands on that stuff very readily.

Anybody else have any troubles with the Spectre 3" intake? It's looking like I'm leaning this way for my ISR mod.

DO NOT BUY THE PLASTIC ONES, THEY BREAK. if you over tighten the collars where they meet they will break and the o-ring between the pieces will be sucked into the TB and can cause 'wide open throttle' this has happened to me and it is no fun. plus the plastic pipes crack from heat. buy their aluminum intake kit, it is what i have and it is much better. of course if your on a tight budget then by all means get the plastic one, just don't over tighten those screws.

Jacobeo5, that looks awesome. Did that entire setup come as a kit from Spectre?

unfortunately not. Just had some spare diamond plate in the garage from another build so i built the sheild to hold the filter, maf adapter and maf, then just bought some elbow and after about 3 hours of drimel work had everything installed. Filter adapter and elbows are all spectre. Though i am bummed to hear that the plastic stuff cracks. I will just keep the duct tape and bailing wire in the truck so if and when it does go i will upgrade to some stainless steel

Jacobeo what plastic parts are you talking about? Everything looks metal to me from the pics.

Ahh, I see. I just figured the plastic kits would be black or gray. Anybody have any problems with the aluminum kits?

I can't seem to find any of these Spectre kits in any of the auto parts stores around me. Anybody ever buy them online?
