poor idle

Everytime i go to stop like at a stop sign or traffic like my truck starts to idle really rough like around 8700 to 9200 rpm. I was wondering if this is the way its supposed to idle or if its kinda low and if so then what would be causeing this,

could you clarify your rpm reading? 8700-9200 is extremely HIGH. That is pretty much redline!

Did you stick a crotch rocket engine in it?

Im guessing he meant 870 to 920 rpms which is actually a little HIGH.

More information would be nice such as engine, year, any codes?

22RE 4x4 should have an idle of 850.

Chances are you have basic tuneup in your future.

I just recently did a oil change and basic tune up.(plugs, wires, cap, rotor) and replaced the air filter. So i figured it was my exahust leak so I replaced my down pipe gasket cause that where it leaked but i still have a rough idle. Could it be a clogged catalytic converter?

Usually a clogged cat wont hurt idle much, unless it is completely blocked, which if the case you would notice driving it right away.

Sounds like a vaccum leak. Once the vaccum leak is fixed the idle may jump up.
