Passenger Window mechanism

Have a 1994 4runner. Driver side rear window has separated from the device that pushes it up and down. It is a metal flange with a rubber grommet that seems to hold it in place. Anyone have experience with how to reattach it. What is required? Do I have to take the window out to reattach it?
Any help appreciated.

Just what came apart??

Did the glass itself come out of the glass channel ?? This is just a friction fit and the rubber gets hard and brittle with age.

Or is it the bolts came out of the glass channel where it attaches to the regulator.

Makes quite a lot of difference.

Thanks for the interest. The glass is out of the metal piece that hold it and the rubber grommet
You say it is a friction fit. How do I get it back in?

First do you know how to remove the window without breaking it.

Cause it makes it much easier with the window out

It is important to get the window channel on correct if not it will not go up all the way and can bind and break.

Unbolt the glass channel from the regulator

Install glass channel on the glass put it all back together

Figure out just why it came apart.

I have had the channel and the motor mechanism out. Do not know how to get the window out. Was hoping that would not be needed. Suspect have to remove the window guides and turn it around and remove to the inside of the door.
If I take to window out what do you suggest for forcing the channel the rubber back on to it...some kind of clamping arrangement seems to make sense to me and slowly press it on. I am aware of the need to get it on the right place to avoid the binding when reinstalled.

The window comes out through the top without it being attached to the regulator it will come out .Remove the outer weather stripping very carefully

I always use silicone spray to make things slide easier.

Plastic or small rubber hammer and just tap.

why did it come loose?? If you don`t fix that it will just happen again .

Thanks for the info. I suspect it was just grit in the channel. Have cleaned it out and lubed it. Seems to move smoothly now.
Will try to remove the window sometime next week and replace.
Again much appreciate the advice.

So all is well. Pulled window out tapped the channel back on and reassembled it. Goes up and down nicely
Many thanks Wyoming for the clues to this!
