I'm trying to locate parts for one of the automatic front hubs that came on my 1987 SR5 4Runner. Anyone know a good source? Or since so many people seem to hate these hubs, anyone have an old one laying around. Left side, in case that makes a difference.
I've attached a PDF showing an exploded view of the hub. My guess is that this is either the return spring or the preset spring, though the mechanic called it a "ring". That's what I need.
...and in case anyone can benefit from it, attached are all of the pages on the automatic hubs from the Bentley service manual that covers 1978-1987 vehicles.

i doubt you need either the preset or return spring. you probably need the spring in your photo, which isn’t either of those. the spring you need (and the one in the photo) is part of the brake drum assembly within the hub.

If that's part of the brake assembly, then my question is is this a failure that happened on its own or is this something that could have failed as a result of the previous work that was done? The brake rotors and wheel bearings and calipers were all replaced within the last thousand miles. Do you think this failure is connected to the work or just coincidental?
And again, to those who keep suggesting to switch out to manual hubs, that is not my desire. If someone has a used hub just laying around, that would get me back on the road.
I've given up and will switch to new manual hubs from AISIN. This truck has become more of a work vehicle for me and less of an off-road vehicle so the downsides of the automatic hubs were not really an issue. For off-road, I look to my FJ.

to be clear, that ring, or spring, is part of the brake assembly of the auto hub, not part of the disc brakes or axle hub. and if the shop disassembled the auto hub, it is HIGHLY likely they reassembled it incorrectly and ruined the spring.
