Oil in ISR pipe

The other day i replaced a ticking injector and found oil in my ISR tube, i figured it was the PCV valve so i looked and sure enough it was stuck open. I replaced it saturday but now i looked again and there is oil in the intake again. Can someone help me with this problem? its a 3vze with a rebuilt engine around 11k on it so far

edit: the oil is comming from here, it is pumping quite a bit of vapor out of the valve cover. is this normal? if not what can i do to stop it?

Not sure why you haven't gotten any answers, but mine is still using stock setup and it does the same thing. I think they all do it to a certain extent, but I imagine as blow by gets worse the PCV can't handle it all and some gets blown through the drivers side tube. Not sure what elimination of that tube would do, of course putting a filter on top of the valve cover would be needed for it to breathe. It would just go in to the air instead of reburning through intake.

If it wasn't for that tube venting oil, I wouldn't lose the 1/2 quart between oil changes.

It's normal for a little oil to find its way into your intake. I have inline filters on my pcv hoses to help keep the oil flow to a minimum.

Could you post a pic of that so we can shamelessly copy you?

Sure. My set-up is really nothing special. I've seen much better filter set-ups on this board. I simply used 2 cheapo 3/8" fuel filters from kragen. They were about 3 bucks each. I tried to keep them at relatively steep angle, to help prevent oil from pooling in the filter.

For the driver's side, the 3/8" hoses that came with the filters fit tightly inside the original 1/2" hose.

Looks OK to me. I suppose the direction flows toward vacumn source and would sure slow down the oil vapors. I need to replace my PCV hose anyway, hard as a rock and a little short from trimming.

Thanks for the responses guys. Would it be okay to just put a small filter breather on the valve cover and plug the hole in the ISR pipe?

I tried that for a while. The smell of oil (inside the truck) was awful. This might be unrelated, but when I was running open pcv's, I experienced a loss in gas mileage. Which was ultimately corrected by plumbing the pcv lines back into the intake.

I recommend using a cheap inline filter method. Or a home made catch can.

I'm not really sure. I just added the filters a couple weeks ago.

You won't notice any difference in the way it runs. It is simply a way to help keep oil out of the intake.
