O2sensor question
Ever since ive owned my 87 reg cab 22re the o2 sensor wire off the exhaust manifold has been cut off. Its cut off so close to ehe sensor i cant even tell what color the wire is. I also cant find any cut wires that might be the one that connects to the sensor. Any help would be great!! By the way it runs fine, idles high, but no check engine light.

when you go to a parts store to get the o2 sensor, they will usually have a direct fit one that plugs right into the connector, and a universal one that you have to wire in yourself. it's possible the PO put a universal one in

Here is where it is physically. Not sure if it helps but this is where the O2 sensor is on my 87 runner. it is the empty yellowish connector under the master cylinder.
If it is an 87 it should be fuel injected, and have an o2 sensor. The truck will run just fine without it as long as the air/fuel is okay. But if the mix gets off and there is no O2, the ECM will be unable to pick up on it
Hope this helps.

so the wire comes out of the same wiring that goes to the master cylinder, i cannot see any traces of any other wiring other than the two wires that are for the low brake fluid switch?? Definetly no connector like shown in your pic. By the way, my truck is a 88' but that shouldnt matter should it??

When I replaced my o2 sensor, the old one was siezed in place due to the bolts being stripped. I cut the wires and re-feed the harness into the engine compartment since I was putting the new o2 sensor in the exhaust manifold location. I have a 88 and there was a o2 sensor location plated off on the exhaust manifold. I simply put the new one in that location and left the old in place. Why you ask. I didn't want to mess with the exhaust since I plan replacing it in the spring.
So my though is. Maybe the PO did the same thing. Check to see if you have a o2 sensor in your exhaust manifold. If you do, then th PO probably did the same thing I did.
