hello yota people

92 4runner automatic.

ok so today when i came back from work as i was cruising back to my house my stereo started to go off all of the sudden, i was like wtf mate. anyways it came back on after a second. trough out the whole way back home it tripped out like that.

ok so once i got home i shut off my 4runner and i was like ok i will check this stupid stereo later, so then i hit the alarm to lock the truck and nothing happens, i press the stupid button again and nothin. so i go over try and turn it on and not even a click, the lights wont go on either its like no power of any kind what so ever so i pop the hood check the battery all the cables are fine i check all the fuses that i can and all of them are fine.

so this is why iam posting to see if u guys can tell me what to check for or some kind of answer.

Battery could have went dead and be bad, or alternator went out and battery went dead due to not being charged. Try jumping it and if it works then charge and test battery then if that isn't it take alternator to autozone or oreilly's and have them test it.

i actually went back out right now with a flash light and saw that one of ground cables ripped off the chassis, looks like the battery was loose. still i put it back in its place but did nothing.

because of a ground cable coming off like that would it cause the battery or alternator to go bad?


but thx i will jump start it tomorrow and check on the alternator.

If it wasn't grounded it would not charge, so jump it and let alternator charge it. It should take a charge but anything is possible.

are you SURE that your terminals are on good, i had the same thing happen on my truck , but i had just seen a movie and it was 3am, so i just left it there and when i came back the next day we determined that the terminals wernt contacting properly, even though they were tight and not coroded, after a few weeks of fighting it i ended up getting conectors and the problem went away

and if your battery became disconected, it could kill your alt

thx for your responses fellas.

i got the problem fixed today, looks like the battey was loose so one of the ground wires was ripped off and also one of the wires that comes off the + side came off and that wire connected to all the fuses under the hood. some electrical tape was all i needed and the problem was fixed.
