Need some info on headers for 3vze

I will start by saying i've read mass on this, i just want to make sure im understanding correctly! I have had all kinds of headgasket issues with my 3.0 I was going to just get rid of my truck and say to hell with it! needless to say I couldent bring myself to do that.... with that being said, both times the headgastkt blew it was on the drivers side back and middle cylinder (5&6) i believe?..?. what my question is if i pust an aftermarket header, say from nwor, and complete exaust system (high flow cat and all) Will this indeed reduce heat around said cylinders. I'd really like to fix this headgasket problem. i've already popped two, and as we all know they are not cheap or easy...

It will reduce heat around those particular cylinders. but it simply just delays the inevitable. I've had headers on my truck for 50k ish miles and I haven't had an issue. Mileage is slightly better, no real power changes. but the main change is the sound of your exhaust. its definitely a huge flow upgrade. Go check out my exhaust or build thread and do all the reading you want.

the "total cost" of mine was around 1,200 dollars. I bought everything brand new, and paid for everything to be professionally installed, except the headers. not to mention, i had to "bargain" to get my straight pipe fabricated. its illegal in california, and shops can get into some serious legal issues for doing such work. But, If you can get everything used ( I just PM'd you ) you'll save a ton.

I'll list the costs here for everything brand new

Doug Thorley Headers - 721.06 shipped
Borla turbo style muffler - 152.07 shipped
3" exhaust tip - 18.76 shipped
labor ( with the straight pipe fabricated illegally ) 335.

Should be pretty close to 1200, give or take a few bucks.
