Need help IDing wires and connector behind glove box

Hello all - I’ve spent the better part of the morning trying to search and search and ID these two blue and green wires as well as the connector to no avail, so here I am asking the inter webs.

I recently acquired a new to me 1994 Toyota Pickup with the 22RE/W56. Previous owner had a sound system that I’m trying to remove… does anyone know what these wires are supposed to go to? And the connector? Thank you in advance for all your help!

also ignore the tiny nest in the AC ducting… still need to clean the truck out.

There are very few solid-color wires in your Toyota, so the blue and green cut wires are probably after-market.

Those on this forum who are most likely to help you aren't going to take their own truck apart, but they might have the EWD. To identify wires, one almost always needs the wire and stripe color. The white-balance on your first photo makes all the wires look yellow. (
on the importance of lighting). So just read off the wire colors of what you want. (You might need to run a damp paper towel over it; with enough dirt, red looks like brown.)

I’ll try and take another picture. I’m taking these photos with my iPhone 12 Pro Max, idk how to change the colors but I’ll try my best to make it as clear/accurate as possible.

The odd thing about these two wires is that they are pulled directly out of the factory loom, I’ll try and get a picture of that too.

Here you can see the blue and green wires coming directly out of the factory loom. Again this is all behind the glove box.

side note - in the first picture, that black relay in the foreground below the blue/green wires, clicks when I try to start the truck. Is this another starter relay? I know the “main” one is inside that black box under the hood. Again I have a 1994, I know that the starter relay has given many people trouble in the past, myself included. I’m tempted to bypass it using a hotshot relay.

No, that's the Circuit Opening Relay (COR). A safety device that will shut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident. Prevents fuel from flowing out of broken fuel lines. Very important safety feature. DO NOT BYPASS IT!!!

Relays:

The connector I think you are asking about (L-W and B-Y wires) is the same shape as the connector to the heater motor. Though those wires should be L-B.

As 2ToyGuy says, the COR clicks with the key to STArt, and powers the fuel pump. You'd never be able to replace that (in any sensible way) with an off-the-shelf universal relay.

Thank you all for the input!

I re-read my previous message and realize I misspoke. I meant I was going to follow Rad4Runner’s tutorial on how to give to starter fresh 12v by installing a new starter relay that’s attached directly to the battery. I will not be bypassing the COR!

Still, any ideas on the solid blue and green wires coming out? When I first pulled the glove box out, these two wires were hanging just the way it’s pictures, except they were sheathed together in the same soft black material commonly seen on these looms, with a clean cut on the end, as if everything was cut at the some spot (possibly the PO cut off a connector to use elsewhere…?).

In this first picture, to me, that looks like "fresh" electrical tape where the B/G wires pop out of the loom and I don't recall seeing any loom with only 2 wires in it. I think that would have been noticeable. As far as the loose connector, no idea, but it sure looks factory.

In my 93, I was just last month splicing a couple of wires in exactly that same general area. And I did not see any B/G wires, but there are a couple of new red ones. And just to emphasize what scope03 mentioned, all of the aftermarket wire I have are solid colors.

Is your passenger side speaker working?

Very good point^^^

The PO had aftermarket speakers installed on the doors… that would make sense if these wires correspond to the missing speaker in the dash. Let me do some more research and digging and I’ll get back to you all!

I’d say speaker wires. Definitely not oem. That unplugged connector is probably for some accessory that was never installed.

while you’re down there fixing wires and cleaning it’d be worth the few minutes and pull the blower motor. Mine was full of debris. Just a few screws hold it in.

I think the yellow plug is the HVAC fan speed lever connector that's located in the HVAC lever dash panel. I just replaced my HVAC lever assembly and I think that is the connection as I had a hard time finding where the fan speed switch connected. Could be wrong.

Have no idea about all the rest.

I’ll get to cleaning it and let you guys know what I find!

On a side note, I started a completely separate thread regarding transfer case woes I’m currently having. Would you guys mind chiming in if you have any ideas?

My apologies on the relay.
When I did the one on my 87 4Runner, it was out in the open, right above the ECU. I didn't see any metal around it. But Toyota make changes like that, sometimes even mid-year, so I'm not surprized.

Again, my apologies.
