Same thing happened to me with my old radio. When i swapped in my new one the antenna worked just fine.

Id just leave it alone, they are annoying, youve gotta turn off the radio for em to go down, like going through a car wash, I cut the power for mine yesterday. I dont notice any radio signal loss.

I'm not sure of the years, I would assume 84-88, but the switch is above the radio. You'll probably need the antenna motor out of the vehicle too, and do the wiring yourself.

but if i plug in the factory stereo the antenna works again, if i plug in the kenwood with the metra plug it doesnt work!!!! all cables are hooked ok,but looking in the metra harness there is a loop that hooks with the stereo power antenna cable .

depending on the radio there will be a power antenna wire that only works in radio mode or just a blue aux wire which means the antenna will stay up even when u have a cd in

Why not have the antenna wire control a relay, which controls the antenna?
