Need Advice, Selling 1990 4Runner with cracked head

So my 1990 4Runner took a dump last week, got the steam engine effect. At first I thought head gasket, but now I am thinking cracked head. I put water back in it tonight and then ran it for a bit, and I noticed exhaust bubbles coming up in the radiator.

I bought a 1997 4Runner on Tuesday, so I no longer have any need for this truck. I would like some suggestions on a good asking price for a Runner with a bad head/block.

Blueblook for my area (and asking prices on Autotrader.com) is about $3500 give or take. I know I can get a Japanese Engine (used but low miles) for $500-1000. Do you think I can get $2000 for it? Or how about $1000-1500? I honestly have no clue and just want a quick sale.

The valve gasket job is $1800 at the Yota shop, but I have no clue what a head job (no pun intended) would run.

Any thoughts, advice?

I don't have the need or desire to fix this truck, but it's a nice 1990 4Runner with all electric locks, moonroof, windows, etc. CD/MP3 player, A/C, Automatic, 4WD, 4 Door, V6, trailer hitch, and 31" tires. Ran great up until now, but I'm at the point I need to get rid of it.

Thanks

Part it out maybe? I have a 90 also and am always looking for a good donor rig.

we have a couple just north of you in the 1000-2000 range. figure somewhere in that range should work. Ask 2000 for it and when someone offers you 1300 for it, take it.

I thought about parting it out, I live in a small town so that would most likely be Ebay. That's where I bought everything for it, new speedo cable, speedo cluster, seat belts, radiator (just bought that a week ago), etc.

That's a lot of work though, kind of looking for a quicker sale than that...plus not sure I have the ability to store a parted rig in my neighborhood without a lynch mob forming.

ones a 93 with a blown 3.0 for 2k and another is a 91 with no engine for 1000. Where in Richland did you go? Please don't tell me Tim Bush Motors! Nothing wrong with the cars they sell, I just dislike the man severely.

Kinda crappy timing....I want to start looking for a 4Runner to work on for down the road (ie, need room for baby seats eventually), and maybe get one with a bad motor and swap in a 3.4L. Unfortunately, I'm broke as a joke at the time or I'd be heading your way to check yours out.

Kinda depends on where you live. I've seen early 80's 2wd Toyota's that shouldn't be worth more than 600.00 up here go for 2-3000 dollars.

Toyota's hold their value up here extremely well, running or not. Almost ridiculous sometimes.

Some up here would have paid closer to 4-5k for that. Location is key.
