Got a used a/c system and this was in the package of parts I got with it. What is it and where does it go?

Thanks

That goes to the upper intake manifold. It raises the idle speed when the A/C is turned on.

Is it for a 22R or RE?

on a side note, that is the valve used with power steering

if you DON"T have power steering, cap off the larger vacuum port that faces the engine once you thread it into the manifold

I have power steering. I'll get it all figured out when I get to installing it. I still want to replace all of the o-rings and I'm looking around for a kit that has them all. Also in the meantime will be doing some cleaning and pressure checking of the condenser and evaporator since they are both used. Would hate to install them just to take them back off to replace.

It will be a good idea to get a new dryer when you install the A/C. They are cheap, and you don't want to install a contaminated one.

Yea I know...already trashed the one that came with the system. I got the system + some other things from a forum member here (Jimmy "jbm715"). I'm doing a complete install on my truck that came with out a/c from the factory. Slow going though, he forgot to send me the compressor bracket bolts and the compressor bolts that attach it to the bracket. Also missing one bolt that secures the top RH hose to the condenser. It's still cold (even in south Florida!) so I'm just hoping I can get it all installed before it's warm again!

Are any of the vacuum lines coming from this part supposed to go to anything with an electrical plug? I see some tied out of the way plugs that look like they're intended for something (maybe the a/c). Just curious...all I got was this part with some cut vac lines.

My 91 with power steering and no air doesn't have that part.

Anyhow, like you already know, it's part of the a/c system, and bolts to the intake manifold. The spring loaded screw is used to set the idle speed when the a/c is on to compensate for the drag of the compressor on the engine.

There should be a VSV (vacuum switched/switching valve) that mounts on top of the valve cover which directs vacuum to that valve, which allows that valve to function. Your truck is already wired for it, hence the plug, but you'll need to find that valve and hose diagrams.
