My truck just got totaled....

I like the idea of SASing your truck. Lots of work but that's half the fun. I would use as much as you could from the 83 and part out the rest. If the trans dies on you down the road replace it then.

update on the yota. all ive got to do now is paint the bumper and hood which is not exactly easy due to logan being like 15 deg high and thats way to cold to paint? right? and i've gotta figure out what to do for a grille. any ideas? and of course i think i'm gonna grab some bj spacers to get more flex outta the front

status update:
I now have the truck back on the road!!!! i decided to bite the bullet and buy a TG bumper because they are the only ones that offer a low pro bumper plus i was able to get it for 300 shipped. i got a used hood locally that isn't jacked up like my original. i ended up getting some longer shackles for the rear at the same time. I have decided that since the insurance company selling my pristine truck is not really in the future so i have decided to make a one of a kind 2wd extracab longbed sas truck! hence part of the reason to get the TG bumper. Is this too daunting of a task to complete or is it within grasp? ive browsed through the sas thread and keep changing my mind. I might just build it as a prerunner. Plus since i picked up a 71 c10 during the summer for 500 thats got a 350 and a 4spd with the granny. This may be the new drive train.... as well but thats pretty intense.

And the SAS is easy, cut all the suspension off find a 4wd tranny and front and rear axles weld in the front mounts and get drivelines made. then your wheelin!
Good to see your gettin it back on the road though, the damage didnt look to horrible as long as the frame isnt bent

the frame i think is all good i think it might have got a little twisted but it might be just the way the springs or the bed sits. it just looks like one side of the bed is lower than the other. but other than that the bumper did its job i guess and prevented any serious damage. although now my od wont kick in and ive checked pretty much everything. maybe a sensor got knocked loose?

so update on the truck. i found a pair of used fabtech uca with a small torsion crank net 3.5" lift for 150 but would i be better off just saving that money in the long run and investing it into a sas or would i be better off to learn how to offroad more and then build my truck

thanks! i got a heck of a steal when i bought it. $500 and its got 116000 and all original with a running engine and dd potential just needs a couple things. the 350 might find its way into the little red yota someday along with the sm465

so i just barely got my truck all finished to its precollison status and i went wheeling with a buddy and was going along side him and he didn't know i was there causing him to tbone my bed. and almost disconnecting the bottom section of the bed. so the wife suggested to just get a new truck. (24v cummins here i come) but im not sure of how much to sell my truck for.
its a 86 22r longbed extra cab dlx with the automatic. it has 113000 miles on it and is basically flawless from the bed forward just a little damage on the bed.
