Try craigslist. You could always buy one and then sell it later. You might see if anyone on yotatech with a come along or winch is around logan. I agree that it would be easier than pulling it out with the other truck.

Is there a way i can use a bar in between the support and maybe the engine block? and just pry it back into place? I have to wait to pick it up till later this week so i can't really experiment im just lookin at my options. but i have decided that pulling it back with the other truck isn't the greatest idea ive had. and is pick a part prob the cheapest way to get a bumper? is there any vendors (TG, MC, or addicted offroad) that sell like display models or discontinued models?

junkyard is probably your cheapest option. If you want the really cheap route find a high school welding class that needs a project (not always recommended though). Is the core support welded in or bolted. If its bolted you might find one of those at a junkyard too...

status update:
I now have the truck back on the road!!!! i decided to bite the bullet and buy a TG bumper because they are the only ones that offer a low pro bumper plus i was able to get it for 300 shipped. i got a used hood locally that isn't jacked up like my original. i ended up getting some longer shackles for the rear at the same time. I have decided that since the insurance company selling my pristine truck is not really in the future so i have decided to make a one of a kind 2wd extracab longbed sas truck! hence part of the reason to get the TG bumper. Is this too daunting of a task to complete or is it within grasp? ive browsed through the sas thread and keep changing my mind. I might just build it as a prerunner. Plus since i picked up a 71 c10 during the summer for 500 thats got a 350 and a 4spd with the granny. This may be the new drive train.... as well but thats pretty intense.

Longbed extra cab?
How is that even possible?
Anyways...
Uhhh..
A SAS on a 2wd is the same process as a 4x4 IFS pickup, except you need a rear AND front axle, and new transmission, lol.

here is the proof that it exists
would it be easiest if i could find a early 80's 4wd and just swap over the stuff from the frame down or would it be better to source parts?

Source parts.

Take your time and get the best quality parts.

don't cut corners here.

X-tra cab longbeds are very common, i see em all the time... but they only come in 2wd.

Good luck on your project. One thing to keep in mind for the future is insurance on a vehicle with a salvage title. In Colorado at least, no point in getting collision or the like, because with the salvage on the title the ins co will evaluate it at $300 or whatever they sold it back to you for as a base for any future losses.

Not sure if Utah and your ins co does the same, but you should check it out.

x2

especially when your wife just found out her student loan payments are way more expensive than you have planned. Take your time and enjoy it. Sweet C-10 by the way.

Well,
What id do is source a front and rear axle, wait a while for more money, source a GOOOD W56 or the like (not an L50, please don't)
Wait a bit for more money..
buy the ifs eliminator, and 63 chevy kit (or go the cheap route and buy shackles and spring hangers, which is all it is....)

Then id start workin.
Preferably find an axle that's in good condition.

Yeah, definitely going to need a new rear axle unless the one on there is the 8" and not the 7.5".

MC sells remanned transmissions (they're not cheap though), which might be the way to go if you have trouble with finding one local that is in good shape. As you're in Utah, you might want to consider a road trip instead of freight if you do this.

The one night thing though, the 2wd ifs frame is closer to the older factory SFA 4x4 frames in shape than the IFS 4x4 frame.

so there is an 83 toyota in my area 4wd of course for 800 obo. would this be a decent price for a starting point? then i'd have a transmission and transfercase and the axles with springs and wheels?

here is the link for the ad
http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218...oyota%20pickup

and thanks about the C10! its my feel the need for speed car currently even though its stock. but it'll get moving once those big secondaries on the qjet open up

why not just build the 1st gen?

*EDIT* nevermind....lol

uhhhmm, the axles will work, but you'll wanna rebuild the front and go through the rear too

it looks to be lifted...but i still don't think you can use those springs.

the trans thats in it won't be a good trans either, it's gonna be an early 5spd (like an L50 or somethin, won't be AS durable as a W series G series or R series.)

Transfercase should be able to be used.

because my truck besides some rust on the driver side bed which you can see in the pic and a couple dents on the pass side is almost flawless. i just barely rolled over 110000 but i guess i could just swap motors over if needs be. and how much would be a good starting place to talk to this guy about?

The 1983 will have a better trans than an L50, it should have an L52, which has a larger input shaft bearing. Which is a leading cause of failure in the L50.
Basically you can use everything out of the 83..

Imo, buy the 83 and fix that up.
Looks like it's fine. Everything from your 2WD would swap into it.
Or buy the 83, do a cab swap, build a flatbed, and go on with your business.
