Well did some local junkyard hunting I found a 85 supra.
Most of the vehicle is intact. The important parts are there the harness, ecu, engine transmission and accessories.
So I was told $400 for the whole supra. The engine condition is unknown.
Hmmm decisions......

Well the motor is still clacking along it's kinda like a noisy sewing machine but I'm still driving it.
I did get to do some other mods I meant to get done. Like replacing my clutch master cylinder it was leaking.
I also replaced my brake master cylinder with a newer 1995 v6 master with it's nice because it has a larger bore.
Turns out the old brake master was leaking too from the inner seal when I pulled it off brake fluid came pouring out of the booster hole.
Now all I have to do tomorrow is bleed the brakes yeh fun in about a foot of new snow.....

Hey thanks,
Well got the brakes bled this morning. My g/f helped she was on the pedal.
I think she did well concidering she's never assisted doing brakes before.
I was kinda suprized the bleeders broke free fine no issues so bleeding went smooth.
Thank god too because it was snowy and cold.
The brakes are much stiffer now. The brake pedal engages at 1/4 the way now when pushed.
The v6 master cylinder helped out a lot.....

Well went offroading last night.
I went down a class 4 called the dump road. At the begining of the road it had a snow bank about 1/2 the size of my 4 runner the trail was covered in over a foot of snow.
I had to winch over the snow bank. Then spent about an hour I think trying to go down the road we kept digging in. I winched about another 4 times to try to keep moving forward.
On one side of the trail there was a swamp and the other a treeline. I think we made it only about 1000 ft we couldn't really go any further. My bud john was driving and backed it up got stuck we ended up winching it out again.
We decided we had to turn around his wife was calling him left and right and my g/f got on the horn too.
Don't ya hate nagging women when are you getting home. LOL
Anyways I ended up hooking up to a tree on the left at a 45 deg angle and the burrowing through the snow back and forth it was definately a fun k-turn I was doing. Had to stop a couple times to let the clutch cool down.
I only had about 2 ft to go back and about 2ft in front of me. Basically I sharpened up my deep packed snow driving technic.
Lots of spinning of the tires and making snow channels for your tires so you can actually move somewhere in the snow.
The purpose of this was so I could get back into our orginal tracks because you don't go anywhere else but back in your orginal footprint.
Basically got it all turned around then headed back down the trail in our orginal tracks.
I got to the snow bank the funny thing is it wasn't that steep going over the other way coming back basically I was pointed almost straight up at at least 8 deg. I had the winch line reeled out and john hooked it up to a dumpster at the end of the trail near the snowbank.
I guess when I was winching the dumpster which was 30 yard dumpster started to move.
He said it was creaking etc the whole time I was winching off it to get up and over the snow bank.
He thought at one point I was going to roll it over but I felt pretty safe and confident I wasn't going to.
Anyways made it back no damage tested out the xrc8 winch and it worked flawlessly the whole night..
The 4 runner when it was done the t-case x-member was packed with snow and on top of the rear springs including my whole front suspension and the winch mount.
On another note my motor's clanking a lot more when it's reved but it sounds like a loose timing chain now.
It's ok I got a fairly new motor I am going to throw into it.

Ain't nobody stealing my winch either. Before i went wheeling I added the extra mounting bolts and I had all the bolts including the mounting bolts tack welded in place.
The the only way to take it off is with a grinder and with sparks flying and that kinda noise it would be bound to wake anyone from a sound sleep....lol

Well tore into the newerish engine today everything looks great.
It's really clean under the valve cover
The chain definitely was done so one less thing to worry about. The only thing left is cleaning the rest of the block up putting on some paint and taking off the oil pan and sealing that up.
One question though this motor came with A/C think I should keep it and make a compressor out of it?
Are the factory A/C units ok for OBA?

Ya there's some wheeling. I think probably a lot more out where you are at.
Ya we'll see how it goes tomorrow.
It looks promising as far as the motor so hopefully it will be driving out of the garage by noon tomorrow if everything goes right.

That right there is the first time I've ever even heard of someone having to winch onto the trail head..... that rocks!

Lol ya most of these trails are part of a maintained road. Then it comes to the unmaintained section they plow basically all the snow to the beggining of the trail and make a huge snow bank. They figure no one will use the road in the winter anyways.
Except for snowmobiles or freaks like me....

Well the motor is in.
The previous owner had done the timing chain but the guides or what was left of them were at the bottom of the oil pan. Also unknown to me the oil pan had a hole punched in it so we had to weld that to fix it.
My old engine was definitely bad the head gasket was leaking on the side between cylinders 3 and 4 and the timing chain was loose and had a loose rod bearing on number 4.
It took a while to get it changed over only because all the connectors are different on a 91 motor so I ended up using the old harness and the injectors. So instead of a 4 hour motor change it took us 8 hours.
It's running right now just have to do a little tuning and timing.
Glad the hard part is over though.

I don't know if you have seen this or not yet, but heres a recent thread about OBA using the A/C compressor. There is also another thread in there that outlines pretty much exactly what to do.

Well as it would go nothing goes flawlessly.
My buddy had welded the hole the oil pan had in it from the junkyard to drain the oil.
I noticed it had been leaking for a while I think in total I have lost about 2 qts of oil.
I found exactly where it was leaking from the welding repair to the oil pan.
So this afternoon I have drained all the oil out and I guess for now I am going to j/b weld the small leak that it has....
Hopefully it holds until I can get over there to have it welded again to fix the hole completely.
Ugggh kinda frustrated right now only because I spent all this time figured it was fixed right....
He had filled it with cleaning solution in the parts cleaner to test to see if it leaked and it didn't seem like it did at the time.
I guess that's what happens when you get in a rush things get overlooked.

Well the j/b weld has been on for 15 mins so far so good. It's still a little tacky only because it's cold the stuff takes longer to setup in cold weather.
In about another 10 mins I am going to check it again and fill it with oil when it's dry.
Right now kicking back enjoying a bowl of hot spicy chilli I made last night...
