Made some progress today. I cut off all the brackets and ground the axle it's still like a rusty boat anchor but it's getting cleaner....

Think after I got done grinding and scraping the rust and crusted grease and stuff of it I had enough of it to fill and aluminum snow shovel.

It's a cheaper way to go. Most people do this.
It's going to be rebuilt so no worries it will look new after I am done with it.
I am going to be buying the back plate elminator kit since the dust sheilds are toast.
It will be getting fj60 rotors which are fairly cheap at $23 a peice. I will be using my IFS calipers as well.

Did a bit of recovery last week.
Let's just say a guy got a 09 Nissan Murono out where he shouldn't have on a class 4 road in mud season.
I got pretty far until my winch cable attachment bolt fell off then shortly after my clutch slave cylinder went.
I got him through the really bad stuff about 800 ft of over foot of soupy mud with various bottoms
It made a long night it was snowing no cell reception out where we were and I ended up having to walk to the main road.
I was late for work the next day I ended up changing the slave cylinder in the mud. I drove out of there on my own though.
He had to call a tow truck cost him a arm and a leg.
My vehicle was a mud pie.
I have mud in the interior on the dash on the head liner the front windsheild and the side windows in the back on the back seats on the rear floor.
Anyone know how to get mud off the headliner?
It just smears everywhere when I try to get it off and makes more of a mess.
I fixed my winch my cable. It got a couple kinks in it during the recovery.
I had asked the guy to keep an eye on it winching in the cable but I think he was more concerned about his Murono.
So far though no complaints about the smittybuilt winch I wish I was running a roller fairlead though....

Lol so far this one has been expensive 2 trips to the car wash $10 a peice and a slave cylinder and brake fluid at $18.
Other news my u-bolt flip and my ball gusset kit arrived.
Minor setback it was my sons b-day today had to buy him a couple Wii games so project back on hold until next payday.
Next payday getting hysteer and possibly shocks also a front rebuild kit.
Still trying to decide wether or not I want to run 4.56's and get another v6 diff for the front or just buy 5.29's.
hmmmm..... I stilll have my old 4.11 diff hanging out so I might just buy some 5.29's and sell the 4.56's. I dunno yet.....

Well did some work to my axle today cleaned it all up and took off the rest of the rusty crap.
It's read to have the truss welded on and the ball gussets.

Well the project has been delayed yet again.
I had to buy new pads and rotors front and rear on my g/f's 06 Subaru Legacy.
You think hearing a metallic scraping while driving would have been a indicator something was wrong.
Her brakes in the front were metal on metal and it had grooved her rotors bad.
I spent a good part of saturday fixing her brakes.
I have hysteer on order and a axle rebuild kit.
Next week I'll probably be ordering a few more things. Hopefully before the end of June I'll have it complete.
Still debating wether or not to go to a 3 link in the front with long arms.
Too bad trail-gears 3 link front isn't ready we could probably fab up something to work though.

Well it's been a while since I have posted but the project is still on.
I got my rear springs done:

It sits really racked with the 4" lift springs. The shocks are temporary until my new shocks come in.
I used the stock bumpstops and welded those to the tops of the spring plates.
Kept the shocks in a semi stock position and welded the shock tabs to the axle housing.
It sits damn tall so I am planning on loosing the 2"BL for maybe a 1" or possibly no body-lift.
I will probably do this once I am finished POR-15 ng the rest of the frame.
I have all the parts for my SAS but I have to wait until after the 4th of July to put the SFA under it.
My buddy has been working on his jeep in the only lift bay all month so after that's out he can work on mine.
I picked up a 4.56 v6 rear diff for my front so now I have a matched gear-set.
Oh and a 4.56 v6 rear willl fit a 85 SFA housing no problems it went right in no clearancing required.
Shooting to have my SFA done mid july time frame.

Well actually that first pic shows it is a lot higher in the back probably like 4" more so it sits like a redneck 4wd dragster right now.
I pulled all the carpet out too surprisingly not much rust on the floor. The little rust it had was from a leaky clutch slave cylinder that ate some of the paint off and the water that soaked through the rug and padding from the snow/salt melting on the carpet.
I pulled the asphalt pieces off the floor cleaned it up and hit it with POR15.
I am not sure if I want to bedline the interior or just put the plastic flooring down inside it.

A few more pics:

Stock bump stops welded to the upper plates.

Not bad shackle angle

I loaded 2 35's on rims in the back to help break in the springs a little while I drive it this week.

As you can see it is still quite racked.....

I like the progression of this runner. One thing that I can add. When you do the fj60 rotor swap with ifs calipers some rims, regardless of backspacing, won't clear. I just got a set of 17x8 steelies with 3" back spacing from marsh racing and they are dimpled in to look cool, well the dimples hit my calipers so now I'm still forced to run a 1/4" spacer. The kind that just slides over the existing studs, not like the big trail-gear spacers that bolt on. You keeping those 4.56s open?

I had to do the same on a set of wheels I was running a 1/4" spacer did it.
The issue I had the calipers hit the outside of the wheel.
Ya it's open for now I'll lock it up eventually.
Now I am trying to decide on tires....
It's down to 35x12.50r15 BFG KM2's or Super Swamper LTB's in the 35x12.50r15 size.

Also got some 35x12.50r15 BFG MT KM2;s on order for it too.
Not too bad $200 a piece and free shipping gotta love www.discounttiredirect.com.
