The Solid Axle swap was done yesterday
A few pics.

IFS be gone Poof

The old carcass

Anyone need a IFS front end with a 94 4rnr converted non add diff w/4.56's?

Clean frame rails.

Axle all welded up and freshly painted with POR15 the day after.

Done new stance.

Took us a total of 18 hours start to finish.
I built the axle my buddy did the cutting and fab work and I assisted him.
Only problems we ran into the frame tubes weren't at a angle.
My fabricator went straight through with a hole saw and took the jig down after he cut through one side.
Big mistake. I need to iron things out with him on charges because of this mistake it took an additional 2 hours.
The old front calipers didn't work really well. One caliper froze and I had litterly no brakes.
So we had to pull it back in and tear it back apart.
I had to use my IFS calipers with new brake pads and they do fit on a non vented rotor setup. However this setup is temporary until I swap out the FJ rotors when I have some free time.
Brakes are 100% better now plus my rear brakes were out of adjustment so did those too.

Sorry for the crappy cell pics.
I still have to do a few things to it.
The front drive shaft needs to be done and I am going to change out the front springs since these used front springs suck.
I am going to be ordering some trail-gear 3" front springs before the end of the month.

I like it so far I will get some new pics when I get a chance after I get my 35x12.50 BFG MT KM2's on it.

Leaf's are ok but I am already thinking of doing a 3 link front on it.
Maybe next year.

Got the 35x12.50 BFG MT KM2's on. Pics....

Don't mind that white crap on the tires that's the gue they use on the bead to keep it from rusting on.

Yes the shackle angle sucks. New springs coming soon....

I've been following your thread for a while and really like what you have done. I am searching for a rig in similar shape as yours was when you got it for the right price. I think you rig looks awsome now, good work! Maybe I just missed it, but what from springs did you go with? Rears up front?

The front springs are I think rough country 3" lift (very saggy)springs for a 84-85 4 runner.
However the hanger is positioned for trail gear 3" springs so I will be going to those.
I should have ordered those but my time to get this done came down to a crunch and I had to get it done...
So I made a snap decision when I welded the hanger to position it for 3" springs.

Well it looks good man. I'd say the front may ride a tad rough till you get some TG springs, but it looks like it is worth it. Would a longer shackle for the time being help?

Nope a longer shackle would make the shackle angle worse and make the ride harsher as well.

Planning on ordering trail-gear 3" front springs next week.
Hopefully those will make it ride better.

I hope it doesn't sit higher than this.

I have 4" rear lift springs in the back with 5" long rear shackles and it looks high in the front.
I was hoping it would be somewhat level.

Wow. I've seen the beginning pics, skipped the middle and jumped to this and all I can say is I'm jealous.

I was wondering, are the trail gear springs that much longer than the ones you have?
A longer spring is the only way to fix your shackle angle, isn't it?
I have considered putting the SAS front spring mounting channel on my truck for running a slightly longer spring and moving the axle forward and inch and a half.

Well I know there is a 2" difference in length between the stock springs which are 22.5" eye to eye total of 45" and trail-gear springs are 22 to the front and 25 to the back so total of 47" long.

It's been a while time for another update.

Yesterday I replaced the upper intake with a newer throttle body and new gaskets it seems to run a little better now.

The trail-gear 3" front springs are finally on order.
Hope to have them next week.

I am in the process of modifying my front IFS drive shaft to go beyond the 25 degrees. As seen on 4x4wire.com
http://67.192.123.199/index.php/toyo...v-modification

So here she sits waiting for a front drive shaft and new front springs.

Thanks. Here's a few more pics I can add.

I got my rear tow point for the trail-gear bumper.

Few more pics of the runner.

Oh and I picked up a 93 honda civic for $25 it runs and drives.
It had no brakes when I got it I fixed them for less than $200.
Replaced a right rear caliper 2 rear rotors and pads and replaced the front rotors.
Fixed a few small things like door handles and cleaned the interior and some other things now everything works on it.

So basically got a backup ride for less than $300

Well the Civic I sold.
I got $400 and a trade of 10/22 ruger with 25 round clip and 8.5x40 scope.

I guess I can't complain on getting a squirrel/varment gun.

Hey thanks I am just glad I was able to finally build a rig after being broke for a few years.

Installed my trail-gear 3" front springs yesterday.
I did pull one leaf out of the pack so I will see how it rides once the springs are broken in.

Before with 3" rough country springs notice the negative shackle angle.

After with 3" trail-gear springs axle sits forward a little.

Notice the shackle angle is much better now.

The front sits higher but it's to be expected.

Things to do still:

Trim u-bolts, put some bumpstops in and Finish the front drive shaft.
