Well putting some money down on a SFA. I got one out of a 85 4 runner it has a 4" lift so getting it with 4" lift springs and all for $200.
The springs look to be sky jackers and have red poly bushings in them. So they look decent to me I'll clean those up and paint them with some graphite paint likely.
It will be a slow task but SAS will begin sometime.
So the plan is to use the ford shock towers, Likely TG's spring hanger kit with shackles. Some cheap dodge shocks in the front as well.
The rear likely 63" chevies or possibly dodge durango rear springs.
I'll be shooting to get this done under a grand if possible.

What a day. I got my 4.56's today what a PITA that was.
It was cold snow on the ground. I ended up flipping the vehicle on it's side to pull the diff's after I pulled all the doors off it and other stuff they wanted off it.
My knuckles are bloody and bruised. Got home in one piece after traversing snowy icy roads to get back home.
Makes me wonder if going through all this was worth for some free differentials....

I think I am starting this project tomorrow.
I am giving the new front diff a bath at the car wash it's a grease ball.
I don't feel like getting a grease bath while I wrestling this thing in.
I think my clutch will thank me and gas mileage should improve somewhat after I put these in.

Well scratch today. I washed my 4 runner however it's way too cold to do stuff outside.
I have ice all over my 4 runner now. Maybe tomorrow.
At least I got the front donor differential washed and all the nasty oil and grease off it.

Well I replaced the radiator today.
I got a slightly used one out a 92 toyota truck in with a v6 brake master cylinder for $50 from the local junkyard.
So I put that in today my coolant was pretty bad almost rust brown in color.
The previous owner didn't change the coolant and the mixture was not 50/50 either.
Anyways that's done. I got some big optix 7" lights too but
I think I am going to return those and get some hella 500's or something.
Excited I'll be bringing my 4 runner down to my buddy's house on monday to put the 4.56's in it.
On another note I might skip the front diff install and hold off to put a SFA under it.

I did find a good deal on a soild front axle. $200 with the lift springs too. Basically all I would need to have to do is cut the old ifs weld on the hangers and bolt it up done deal.
Well I am kinda stumped for now. I am eyeing a winch and a winch mount or I do a SFA swap? Ughgghh wish i could do both....

Whoa what a day. It seems problems come in two's...
I went to push my clutch in this morning and boom it went to the floor.
I checked the slave cylinder was blowing fluid out.
Well had to change that today.
I also put in a optima red top battery 800 CCA.
I got to puting on some big ass 7" optix lights on the front bumper.
Fun dealing with that one the freezing cold and snow.
I have some other goodies going on it later on coming soon. Like a XRC8 Winch...
I'll have snap some pics tomorrow it's too dark out and snowing like hell right now.

Uggh well I checked out my 4 runner's stance this morning it's a little low on the passengers side.
I did some further investigation I've got a broken lower leaf.
Now I wish I held off buying the damn winch..... Well live and learn I guess I need to save up some more dough for set of springs now.

Anyone run jeep xj springs on a toyota?
Just curious my buddy has a few leaf packs laying around.
I was toying with the idea they are 23" to center front and 28 5/8 to rear they are 51" roughly 4" longer than a stock toyota leaf pack which is 47".

you could probably pirate some of the leaves out of the XJ spring packs to fix your broken one. just remember to do the same to both sides
on my rear springs, the top two leaves are toyota and the bottom two are from 53" chevy packs. haven't had a broken leaf since, and i drove on two broken stock rears before that.

Well I installed the 4.56's today.
I removed the add shaft from the donor differential and installed the non add shaft. The whole swap over took about 3 hours but I think it was worth it.
Power band is a little different it's noticeable not a lot but it's noticeable.

One pic of the runner today. The big ghey blue lens lights it has now.
I've been pretty lame as far as getting pics up of what I have done to it.

Some pics of the Trailgear winch plate and the smittybuilt xrc8 winch
I had to trim the lower part of the grill to mount up the solinoid box.
Have to dig up some bolts for the side mounts before I do any winching but it's done for the most part.
I plan on building a bumper for it later at sometime around the mount.
The turn signals are zip tied up there in the meantime.
The wire rope will be traded out for a nylon rope later as well.

My buddy wants to sell me his old amsteel blue 80ft rope he is saying like $200.
He's used it twice.
Do you think this a good deal?
I checked online I think I can get it cheaper than that.

What ll have you done to fit the 35" tires besides the 2" Body lift? I would like to do something similar to my 88 but not sure how well 35's will fit with just body lift?
Also I like the 4runner, you did a great job on it so far.

Besides the 2" body-lift not much.
A rear shackle lift in the back and some trimming at the bottom of the fender. I hammered the frame seam so when you turn lock to lock it doesn't rub.
remove unwanted various plastic pieces in the back etc they fit no problem.

Ugggh what luck today....
My motor blew the head gasket this morning.
It runs still but it's blowing radiator fluid of the side of it.
I could have a cracked head if it's not the gasket.
Now what.
I am calling around for motors because it's -9 now and I can't change a headgasket in this weather.
Almost thinking it would be easier to swap a motor into it at a shop.
I dunno if I should stick to a 22re or swap in a 5mge if I can find one.
