My dash is falling apart.

The piece around the steering column busted loose so I've taken it off and then this morning I was leaving my apatment and I ran over the abusive speedbump at my apartment and the piece on the top drivers side busted into 3 poeces and fell right off. I might start building stuff out of sheet metal to replace it.

I agree. Go out to the local yard and dig out some unbroken stuff.

if I get one from a junkyard it will be old like mine was. I'm thinking about building it all out of metal. BUt you guys are probably right. I'll start checking around. It would be a lot less time consuming to put another old one on.

Screw those speed bumps. I shouldn't have to be assulted everytime I come or go from home. I'm rebelling against them.

Age doesn't indicate condition. I knew of a few 70's era rigs that are in better condition that your truck

If you "rebel" against the speed bumps, just take the column surround off. for that matter, just scrap all the plastic in your truck as its all going to rattle and break loose.

there isnt a piece of plastic dash left in my truck that isnt cracked in one or 2 places. in this case, the dash plastic stuffers over time. age makes it brittle. so virtually all junk yard dash pieces have the same issues.

trust me ive looked...

Strange, all the dash pieces in my 86 are in pristine condition.

Again, age doesn't necessarily dictate condition. Factors such as weather, wear, and abuse however DO change things.
