I have an 89 3.0 that I just picked up some downy headers for and I want to do a true dual exhaust with no cats, and two flow master 40 series and probably 2.5 inch piping... Am I gout to lose alot of low end tq with the true dual? Any comments on the set up I'd like to do? I'm on the fence about it

99 Limited 5vz-fe. Welded up a Super 40 clone yesterday (paid $50). Also put a 12" 45 degree angled tip (3" opening). I tested it with/with out the tip and I'll tell you... a tip can really change tone. My tip makes the truck sound really deep and throaty (sounded more annoying without the tip). I have this paired with a K&N fipk CAI and I've noticed more mpg and a bit more power. I've got picks of this on "What did you do to your truck today?" (I believe that's the name of the Forum... it's on here, uploaded it earlier today).

If you go with true duals you will definately loose a lot of low end power with that 3.0. This would really only help if you were running some type of forced induction system (at a lot of boost I'd like to note). True duals do sound really mean, but they're not meant for our trucks (we're not pushing out as much exhaust as a big-block V8) because we require more back pressure.

I can't decide what muffler to put on my 3.0. I'm thinking either a flowmaster 40 or 50 or maybe a cherry bomb extreme. Looking for a nice deep tone and a little extra noise but with minimal drone in the cab since its my daily driver. Suggestions?

Do you know what the difference is between the 40 and 44?

Magnaflow with 2.25 inch pipe. Gained a couple of MPGs and noticeable HP boost. Sounds just like what an old guy like me would drive.
