I just discovered that I have a magnaflow muffler welded in. It's not annoying loud or anything, but when it gets revved up the 22re screams like a civic with a fart can. Lol

My 86 Xcab has a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler with 2 and 1/4" piping, when I first got my 86 Yota it had one of those awful cheap red cherry bombs thats sounded like a bumble bee.

I had a fresh engine dropped in, and a new muffler was a must have item. Only paid $53.00 total for the muffler, I like it, no catalytic ...had that removed, I think every city has a money hungry mechanic shop that will remove catalytics for straight cash.

With my PaceSetter Header, free flowing into the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler.... it sounds good when you hammer down on it. I'm satisfied with it for the money paid. If I ever do anything to the exhaust line it will be replacing the cheap PaceSetter header with a better grade like an LC Engineering Header.

Muffler looks like this>

2000 tacoma 4x4 SR5 supercharged 3.4, fuel/timing upgrades (URD) stock wheels/tires; doug thorley shorty headers and Magnaflow exhaust (2.5"). Sounds great, not very loud in the cab but noticeable; very smooth yet robust sound and performance is great of course. Put the exhaust on prior to SC and DT headers and other than a different sound, didn't really add much power but picked up maybe 1mpg at best? $450 delivered (got the wrong size the first time, thanks autopartsdeal) Better than stock but if you have access to a decent shop, build your own system with a high flow muffler of your choice for a fraction of what a Magnaflow or similar system costs.

Ok. This STILL doesn't really sound like what it does in real life, but my buddy pulled out his phone last second. Bear with the video, it sucks. I warned you. I don't really know what it sounds like. Maybe a Subaru? Not like a Toyota, that's for sure. Lol.

I keep thinking I have Magnaflow on my truck but I forgot that I wound up getting a Jardine exhaust setup from URD instead. What a PITA trying to get Autopartsdeal to admit that THEY made the mistake and get my $$ back. Tried Amazon but had the same fitment issue so just called URD and they got me the Jardine which sounds great. I still had to visit schucks to get a 20" pipe to make the system fit.
Seems like an ExtraCab/Standard Bed is extremely rare.... not....

im running 2in pipe from the header back to a thrush turbo muffler. it sounds pretty clean and was fairly cheap. i know it isnt a top of the line muffler but it works.

i bought a thrush glasspack back in september id say to go with my stock cat and it was great, nice and crackly at high rmps on the decel and people heard you coming. but, i have noticed now that it doesnt crack at those rpms anymore and is maybe a little softer. it kindof sounds like the fiberglass packing has worn out a little. still has a nice tone to it though, 2k rpm is when its best for me. i think a cherry bomb extreme is in the near future

All new pipe including the y-pipe, upgraded to a 2" pipe all the way back. Kept the cat in for emissions and put in a cherry bomb glass pack. Pretty much the best sounding truck in my town. One tip for getting a glass pack, keep your cat on. Otherwise its going to sound way to loud and raspy.
