Mass Air Flow Sensor/Meter Destruction
Hi there yota head,
So I was fixing up my snorkel connection today and managed to f*@k up the Mass Air Flow sensor.. A couple of pins came off from the circuit board.. Now my truck runs but it seems as though its missing, idling wrong and its hard to start from cold...
Just hoping some kind person out there might have a wiring diagrams of these units and/or a picture of how the pins are in theirs??

sounds like the wiring pins came out of the holder? and its a air meter box, not mass air flow. just so u know. the link below is the fsm online..... might want to bookmark it.

Ah ok well I was just going off what a google search had thrown up at me..
So for my Vane air flow meter, its a little worse than just pins out of the black connector its actually the PCB inside. The soldered parts on the board have come off the board itself
At the moment I have managed to get it running to a satisfactory level but I will have to re-solder them to get them 100%. I think it know how they need to go but would like to check it possible before i go soldering them back on (and potentially shorting things)
Weird thing is when I was playing around with it last night trying to fix it sometimes it would run in LPG (ok not running great but running) but stall it in petrol..
Thanks for the website link.. FSM = Factory Service Manual??

i did the same thing u did and if u pull the top black cap off u can see where the connections go. and just re solder them in place and then it will run right again.

Lol! I did the exact same thing the other day. I just bought a different top for the air box from a guy that has a toyota salvage yard so to speak for $40. Just be sure to match ur part numbers up if you go this route and ul be fine.

Toyota spare parts near me quoted $1200 for a replacement part!!
So looking on the internet I cant find any replacement parts second hand here in oz. I have been to the scrappy and bought one of him. Now it fits but it has a different part number, but its got my car up and running how it should and the check engine light has gone off yay =)
Going to have to order one from ebay in the US. Atleast this part will get me through till it arrives

justin_4runner i had tried soldering the connections back on back the actual metalic bit has separated from the board so it was near impossible to make a decent connection
