One question why?
What trans do you want to use?

I second the WHY????

Sell what you have buy what you want!!!

Or if you do decide this route by a running Auto Trans 4Runner with a good drive train so you have most all the parts you need.

My old van had a 6 cyl/3 on the tree, then V8/3 on the floor, then V8 with a pinky built C4 (his trademark was painting the trans pink) The trans has a higher stall speed converter, extra clutch in the clutchpack, shift kit in the valve body. Sorry for the non-toy post.

I guess the main reason why would be...My father is in a wheel chair and trying to put something together that he can drive with hand controls to plow is driveway when it snows...as for just going and buying what I want...lack of money...need to do what I can with what I got.. Not everybody in this world has unlimited funds.

It is likely that you could sell this one and buy an auto trans truck, even if you have to throw in some more $$, cheaper than you could do a swap.

That might be possible to sale this one and buy one with auto... except I have a wrecked one with a free tranny and such.. it certainly would be alot easier just to sell and buy..

Personally I think the previous owner (a so claimed master wrench turner) abused the hell out of this truck before I got it... he rebuilt the motor before I got it...it never ran right after he did that--the reason he sold it and I got it cheap... after I tore into it the timing belt wasnt install right and the idler pully and froze... one I afraid of swapping to auto only to find more crap wrong.... but also afraid that if I do try and sale it, I wouldnt get what I think its worth..

Given your reason your still in for lots of work.

I take it your wrecked Truck has all the parts??

Transmission /Transfer Case and rear drive shaft.

Good cross member with good mount ( might be good to Go new)

All the Transmission and 4x4 electronics .

I am not sure if you need to swap ECU/ECM to talk with the ECT.

Going to go with a After market trans cooler ??

I am sure lots of things I forgot.

Not to mention plumbing in the hand controls.

I take it your 4Runner already has the plow installed I never would try mounting a plow on a Toyota again.

Best of Luck I still think your better of starting with a Automatic

Even better buy a truck with auto and a plow set up already .

Best of Luck in any case

Thanks for the info... Does sound like a big job... I did however find today a runner with auto that has a blown head gasket... That might be doable and the price isn't bad either..
