Lower A arms need replaced.

Lower A arms need replaced.
Well guys, I found I have a half dollar sized hole in my passenger side lower a arm and I figure I should replace both at the same time. Who offers the best replacements that already have pre-mounted ball joints? Also what is the best way to remove them because I see that using a torch is going to be the most likely means.

How solid are the rest of the A arms?
What kind of shape are the bushings in??
Perhaps a patch welded in to keep things going for another few years.
Depending on how solid the rest of the A arms are.:jessica:

As long as the adjuster bolts are not frozen in, its not hard. The bars need to be relaxed, the adjuster bolts knocked out along with the shock & sway bar. Ball joint comes out with a hammer.
Takes about 2 hours.......
None come with ball joints; but I would replace them both on GP. The top ball joint carries the load.

Go long travel you'll love the difference.
Plus for a little extra Nate will do all new bushings and balljoints!

Thanks for the input guys, probably will end up just getting all the parts and a bushing kit and then doing it on a saturday. Tech Tim, those trucks look sick! I'd love to go long travel but being a college student I don't have the kind of money to do so.

A half dollar sized hole? Can you provide a photo of what your talking about? FYI-Torching out those rubber bushings and recovering the steel to be re-used (bushings sleeves and washers) is a nasty job. It is a dreaded D.I.Y. job in the home environment to say the least. Beware of the fumes and the sticky molten blobs of rubber. It is so not fun! Most likely you will damage at least one of the rings on the inner steel sleeves when removing the captured washers. I can sell you new sleeves for $20 each, there are (4) sleeves. There are (8) opportunities to blow one out. Its too bad the bushing kits don't include the steel sleeves and washers like Blazeland does with its Long Arm Kit.

I used a small grinder disc to cut the old bolts and bushings out. New Toyota cam adjusting bolts + new bushings... = all good. The "Lower Control Arm Bushing Front/Rear" carried by my local parts store was a complete replacement. Sleeve, rubber, washers.
