I bought a 15.99 valve compressor from Autozone, but apparently it's the wrong one. I went to Autozone and Advanceautoparts, they do not have the valve spring compressor I need for my 3vze head. I looked online and they want 169 eff'in dollars for one, what a rip off. Anyone have any custom C-Clamp mods to do the job, is it safe, if so, do you have a picture?

Will this one work for the 3vze head to get the springs out and possibly other motors? I need to replace all the valve guide seals. Call me a noob, but I will be an expirenced noob after I get this head gasket job done

 

Looks to me like ti would work. I just had to do this and ended up just taking both heads to Carquest and having the engine builder replace the seals and also dip the heads in a chemical bath to clean them, only cost $45.

 

Carquest is lame here, they didn't even know of or have the valve spring compressor I was talking about...

I just made a small tool that would allow me to put the head in my press to compress the springs. There is just enough room to get inside my "tool" with needle nose pliers or a small screwdriver & small magnet to get the spring keepers out. It worked really well, and didn't cost me a thing to build, because I made it out of an old plumbing fitting I had at the house. I don't remember exactly what kind/size of fitting, but I could check when I get home if you need me to. My tool would be of no use to you unless you own a press, though.

 

Ohh and don't forget to pick up an eye patch too when you buy the cheap tool to compress the springs and insert the projectile retaining inserts.

 

Seriously though, I need to order the tool, like right now, so it can be on it's way. I've purchased 3 of these things from three different places and none of them work, so I took them back. Will this one from amazon work or not?

It looks like it will do the trick except that it does look a bit flimsy but i would wear some sort of eye protection for sure or build some sort of plexi shield 1/2 to 3/4" inch thick to look thru while you are compressing the springs to either remove them or apply the retaining inserts.

 

My work place have a valve compressor that will fit the 3vze head valve type, but not sure if it is the right one so I'll check tomorrow if you want me to. If you need it you either can reply below or PM me.
