I would talk to Total Chaos. They are super cool and willing to talk shop all day. I would tell them what you want to get out of your rig, and I know they will have the answer. Part of spending more money is getting superb customer service.

I don't have experience with the TC kit on a 4runner let alone a 3rd gen. One kit might suit your needs better than the other and it might not be the most expensive one.

I always wanted a long travel 3rd gen so I will be watching and drooling as you go.

oh and t 100 axels to keep 4wd.

 

could i instal everything without the t100 axles for awhile and install later on down the road without completely taking everything apart lol

 

You wouldn't be able to have 4 wheel drive without the t100 axles because the stock ones would come up quite short.

 

Just go to the junkyard for the t100 axles. I have seen them let go for as little as $75 a pair with good CVs.

Not that I'm necessarily condoning this kind of behavior , but if you went and got two CV's for a T100 from AutoZone or Checker (probably around $70 each with a lifetime warrantee), you could turn in your stock CV's as the cores. I doubt the Autozone guy would even recognize the difference between the two.

 

...and just grab the axles from pick a part, for probably $25 a pair, Brilliant!!

it's the longer control arms on the LT kit that require the T100 axles
it's not the T100 CV's that make it work with TC's long travel...
T100 joints on a truck axle does not make the axle longer.

I get what's going on, but don't make it sound so simple.
You NEED the longer axle shaft from the T100 more than you need the CV's.

 

Yeah but the t100 axles are much more readily available than the downey units.

 

I didn't mention 'downey' axles at all.
my point was that others said to get the T100 CV's from a junkyard.
you need the longer T100 axles to make it work.
