Lift question

I'm a newbie to the 4x4 world, so excuse me of any of my ignorance and maybe not even use the right language or naming of parts. I have a 1994 4runner with all original shocks and springs. I do have larger tires ( I want to lift my truck moderately. Can I do that with a different shock and spring alone or do I have to ad a block? I have 32inch tires. I also have a sag in the rear, I guess that is common on the older 4runners. This is an everyday vehicle for me & I have 2 kids with carseats occasionally with me. I'm also an big outdoorsman, so I want something high enough for off road and mean look, but not too much for practical purposes. Any advise I greatly appreciated. Also I have an average budget, so I can't go high dollar on these items.

Look up Old Man Emu. There are several online sites that sell their suspension kits. They have a few different coil springs available for the rear and a heavier duty torsion bar for the front. Also look up ball joint spacers for the front. You can also look at swapping for Landcruiser coils in the rear.

I like my rough country lift, I also run 32x11.5x15's and they sit nice under my lift, with good clearance. may be a little tall for practical use, but i have no problem getting my niece in and out when I have to drive with her. I don't like to since she's 4 and I don't have a back seat but when its necessary it works.

this link will take you to the lift for your truck. I have the same height lift on my pickup and it's pretty well engineered. My racing suspension teacher (doesn't like lifted vehicles) complimented it, and from an old man I take that compliment to heart.

Old man emu is a great lift to, and they prob have different heights if this is to tall, but just doing my share of help get some pix up of her when you lift, would love to see how your build goes

welcome to yotatech!

These 2 liknks should be required reading for you and your 4Runner.

I think that Ball Joint Spacers and lift coils or spacers depending on your current sag, you will also need new shocks, Would be what you are looking for.

Decide what you need for a lift, read links, then pick a vender or piece the kit together. If only a mild lift then one of the OME kits may be best.

Hope this helps. My $0.02

stiff or soft springs?

You have to decide if you want stiff or soft springs. Stiff springs are great for washboard roads. I ran OME (from 4x4connection; great customer service) on my 88 and loved them but they are stiff and don't flex much. Soft springs are desirable for rock crawling since they flex well.

My brother and my buddy both put Landcruiser front springs in the rear and the lift and ride is great.
