    2nd gen 4runners lift guide

    I did some research on what type of lift kit i wanted for my truck, and i rang into a lot of lifts, so i thought id post them, as a helpful guide for beginners

    First off let me explain that you do not need a lift kit to fit 33x10.50 or 33x12.50. the 10.50 will fit with no rub at all, while the 12.50 will fit with some rub, backspacing will help take care of that rub

    This might make for a good sticky if others add their personal experience and researched pics or specs as well.

    So how does option 1 get you that much lift, in the front especially, 1.5-2" t-bar crank or what? The rear coils and spacers make sense though.

    If you plan on cranking the torsion bars, i would suggest getting the old man emu torsion bars as a replacement..

    Pro Comp Stage II with 35 x 12.5's and slight to fender pinchweld's no cranking on torsion bars.

    Also I got the kit for $950 delivered from 4wheelparts not trying to push there site but I did get the step up for cheaper through them all I did was tell them I seen it on sale on another web site but that they where a drop ship place and they matched the price. Just a little info to help save someone a few bucks.

    Almost forgot rear coils are replaced with custom built heavy duty coils

    That doesn't make any sense, unless they're just accounting for the rear where height is gained because of spring sag.

    Great post. This should be pinned at the top, or archived in the offroad enhancements.

    One note though, my truck is stock height in the front end- 14" from fender to wheel lip. I relaxed the torsion bars to get better flex.

    Just a few things..


    Your first picture, those tires rubbed pretty bad on that truck. Should note that to really cut down on trimming, you wheel needs to be stock backspaced (or very close).

    Option 1, 3-4" of lift? No. 1.5-2" tops. There is no way to get 4" out of just bj spacers without totaly throwing your front end out of whack.


    Other then that, pretty good

    p.s Love that the bracket lifted 4runner has those stupid chrome rims

    ok i changed option 1 to 2"-3" and added that you need backspacing on a 33x12.50 and no lift

    here is what I did with my second gen. I got a set of FJ80 rear coils $85.00 , shocks $120 / set , Tires (MAXXIS BIGHORN MT'S 255/85/16) $600.00/ SET , labor / case of beer, and crank the TORSION BARS up front.
