Who here has made or found some led light bar brackets for our rain gutter style Toyotas?. I cant seem to find anyone who makes them. I am looking into getting a led light bar for mine.

pics with your led light bars mounted on the roof ect. and size led light bar used is greatly appreciated

I just made some that mounted low on the windshield so limbs don't take it off in the woods. used 12 6x1.5 mm bolts with well nuts.

 

it took me about 20 minutes to make these

How bad are these reflecting back off the hood and into the windshield when mounted up high like that for you guys?

Anyone I have talked to around here who have mounted LED bars or HIDs like that above the windshield, and did not push them back above the roof a little is in dust, or fog, (and especially on white or silver paint) is its instant blindness from the from the reflection.

 

Dropzone. that is nice very simple and clean looking. what did you use to clamp it to the gutter got any pics of that?

DHWRIGHT. that is a nice solid mount, i'm not into that to my body but love the creativity. and i have looked into Dave's off road stuff for the mounts. also how did you get the different color lenses for the light bars looks sweet.

and what size light bars you all running? and do you all prefer the curved or straight. trying to make it look as clean as possible when installed. i'm liking the Dave's off road ones

also been looking everywhere for some led light bar mounts for my 98 Chevy k1500. I had more luck with the toyota than the chevy lol. and i know this isn't Toyota related but i know someone here knows where to get some for my Chevy just figured i would ask considering its the same topic.

 

The glare was only bad in the rain so I built a little visor to keep the light off the hood.
It is just green head light tint.
having to drill 12 6mm holes in the windshield pillar sucks but all ready had holes in other side for snorkle. Plus had to drill hole to hide wire.



The visor I built during the test fit before I cleaned up the edges.

 

Those look slick but 1st gen only.

 

DHWRIGHT the green tint looks good. how does it effect your light color? or is it still white?

I tinted the top one 1st and then compared it to the bottom one before I tinted both and there is hardly any noticeable difference between the two when on. I was hoping it would be green to stand out from all my friends when riding but its not.

 

I was to the point of painting the hood black to limit the glare. I ended up selling the light bar to a guy at work for a few bucks more than I paid.

The whistling kind of sucked too.
I used some angle as the gutter clamp



It was very stable.

Mine was a 42 or 44"
If I were to do it again I would have used a curved light bar.
But as mentioned above I eventually pulled it due to the glare and the whistling.

Check the amp draw of any light bar you get, some of them pull way more juice than others and if you have not upgraded your alternator you will tax your system.
Definitely run good wiring, switch and a relay.

thanks dropzone i might end up fabricating one myself. did you have any issues getting the long piece in the gutter by having to bend them out some or just a snug fit as is?. I am not trying to mess up the paint when i go to repaint my truck. and the bolts didn't hit the body at all?

and i will most likely end up getting the curved bar 42" i believe is what i will get. and are y'all using these while driving or just offroad. i am pretty sure for offroad use but you never know people will do crazy things with lights

 

If someone is stupid enough to use one of these on the road, they deserve to have them smashed or forcibly removed off their trucks. They are WAY too bright for street use and will blind the crap out of on coming traffic.
There has been a few idiots local to me, who I see driving around with them on during the day and all its going to do make it a big ''kick me'' sign for the cops for anyone who has a led bar and they will eventually become illegal to not be covered while on the street.

 

i figured it was a no. just never know there are idiots that do it like you said. i was reading through a truck magazine and they have street legal ones now but i am sure there angled different to not glare like these off road/trail only ones do.

does anyone know where i can also get brackets for my 98 chevy i have looked everywhere but maybe found 1 set.

 

They are definitely not cheap.

 

Whats up yota Fam; just purchased 1989 toyota pickup 3.0v6 auto 4x4. New to Toyota game, and Yotatech. if someone could inform me what size light bar will fit to mount above windshield maybe a 50in.
Need some feedback if anyone has any advice maybe send me a link to light bar measurement thread. I already found the mounts on slag factory. Thanks for your time guys. oh also if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it.
