Leafs
Hey wondering here? Could u put different leaf springs from diff trucks on the 88runner for like a 4' lift? And what should be better so that my back won't drag ass ,, and does anyone know what rear gear axle does the 4runner 88 come in stock??

You can also look up the Zuk Mod which is very popular in the 4runner crowd. Ive heard of f-150 hybrid springs which use Toyota main leaf and F-150 supplemental leafs... thus no welding.... As for the gear ratio.. look at your door tag it should have a code on it like a g144 etc. then look that code up here...

I read through it, i might have missed it but i dont remember it mentioning f150-toyota hybrid packs but he did say just throw in some different leaves. When he said cut them, is it just like cut them at the appropriate length with a flat edge or do you have to cut them like factory leaf?

That wasnt the only place ive seen that mentioned but I cant find the other posts. As far as i remember it was using 2wd ford spring pack mated to the Toyota main leaf. So you dont have to weld new perches. I will be ready to try this soon.... so i will let you know

YAY I love leaf springs. Theyre so simple and easy to work with.
Things to remember when building a hybrid pack.. Your looking for leaves that have the same thickness and close to the same arch. If the thickness/spring rates are too different, the pack wont work well.
The link that Bone collector posted, that thread was about trying to fit 51" springs in the place of 48" springs. I suggested to the guy to use his 48" main leaf with the rest of the 51" pack. Same concept applies to any other types of leafs in.. Check this handy little chart, lots of spring specs

sweet link rattle..... as far as my research goes... the 80-96 f150 2wd springs are 2 1/2 inches wide and and 51 inches long.... the stock toyota springs are 2 3/8 inches wide and 48 inches long.... close enough for me to give it a shot

84-89 rear springs are 48", but 90-95 springs are 51" long. According to that chart I posted, 80-96 ford springs are 56" long. I think its still worth playing with... Just trim the leafs to fit.
