i know on my supra that was a part of the EGR system, and if you look at the 2 lines going into it on the other side, cant you just take one of the lines and loop it back onto the other hardline on the other side?

basically theres 2 hardlines going into that thing with 2 rubber hoses and on the other side the one out that looks like you have blocked off? so cant that be taken off completely with the mounting bracket and the one soft line be looped into the other hardline

Has anyone tried this on their 22RE?

Anyone tried cleaning their ERG with Seafoam/ Superclean/ solvent?

I just plugged the 2 rubber lines that went directly into the EGR.

what do you do with tube that goes into the egr from the exhaust manifold if you remove the egr completely. can you just block that line or do you have to remove it and and make a plate for the opening in the manifold. will a liquid gasket work to plug that line if you don't have to remove it.

I took that tube off and made a plate. (See pic #2). You might be able to just plug the tube. I just got rid of it...looks better and easier to seal. The gasket has to be able to withstand exhaust manifold temps. I just bought new gaskets to use on my plates.

That was my theory...not too mention it clutters up the engine bay, looks bad, and is harder to plug.

Question

This resistor you guys speak of........is it a 1K ohm or a 10K ohm. Just curious, I have seen both posted and I thought it would make a difference to the ECM.

I need some info about the resistors too! I just blocked off my EGR valve a couple of days ago, thought I would give this a try. My EGR code has been on for a while and really didn't to invest the $ into it, especially after a friend told me about this trick. I bought 2 different resistors, a 10 ohm and a 1/2 ohm. My problem is: not 100% sure how to attach it to the EGR sensor wires. Anyone know the correct the way?

Jumper the connectors with your resister.

So, just simply insert each end of the resistor into the sensor wire coupling?? This will fool the computer into thinking that there is no longer a code 71? Then I can reset the code?

Thats what worked for the OP My truck doesn't have the EGR sensor, so I didn't have to mess with it.

Yay, 1st post fer meh! lol. Well I just gave this a try on my 91 pu with the 22re noticed a purdy good but of extra torque on the low end. Fer now just pulled off and blocked the vacuum line, but as soon as my new header comes in, I'll do away with the pipe and completely remove the EGR valve from the intake manifold. No complaint's for a free mod though! Oh yeah, no smog test here in Fl, so no worries there. Just did the mod literally 20 minutes ago, so I have no input about the gas millage effects.

I took my egr off a while back and made a plate to block off where the tube went in, yesterday I pulled the plate off to seal it up a little better and I notice oil sitting where the egr tube use to be. Is this normal or do I have a problem? The engine runs good and I don't have any pinging or odd noises.

Quick question: does the removal of the EGR affect anything other than maybe the engine temp (no emissions in my part of NM)? It might help solve a slightly rough idle......
