i just blocked mine off and got rid of the whole egr system on my 3.0. This is great it will make future spark plug changes very easy and it seems to be running smooth. Good move over all I think. I havnt passed emissions yet but if all else fails my buddies dad lives in castle rock and Ill register there.

well I used pbr cans for the exahust block where the pipe comes off the header that was a bad move!! two layers and it blew right through that. I now have stepped up the game and used a roofing tin shingle. much better I have noticed a huge difference in performance. Maybe not so much in acceleration but more in the fact when I go 70-75 i just kiss the 3g rpm rather then 3500 which I know will save me gas in the long run!!

Just did this at my dad's garage. I was reading code 72 and, after reading about this, I didn't feel like fixing the EGR if what you all claimed was true: performance increase and uses less fuel.
Used 1/4'' thick aluminium edging, a hacksaw and a machine drill. Only took about 2 hours to figure out the system, take out the EGR, and put in the new pieces. I've not put a resistor in yet, because I am still pulling codes 52 and 27, so I'll deal with it once I've finished those issues.
Thus far I've felt the engine works less hard, I have more power, and it starts easier.
Look at all that room in the engine now, too!
Thanks for the help, guys...

Just did the blockoff on a 22re. I just pried the tube that lets the EGR gas into the intake manifold back 1/16" and stuffer in a piece of stainless steel with two holes drilled in it. Tightened it up -- no leaks, no problems. Truck was doing a weird idle thing, I believe the EGR would stick on at random times. Now that issue is gone. The way I see it, blocking it off isn't a big deal since it wasn't working properly anyway. That and the truck doesn't get alot of miles put on it...

Ive removed both EGR valve and Reed Valve along with CAT delete (test pipe). Runs much better without any of it. just passed emmisions with flying colors last week. 92 4Runner 3vz-

right on. i have limited experience with any form of emissions testing, but i guess that makes sense for the various generations of vehicles.
