Plugged it, and left it where it was. Truck is running smoother, this is my new favorite mod!

I have mine hooked up, bypassing the non working EGR modulator. I can notice a little stumbling and a little less power. I can't wait to fix my smog issue and unhook it again.

Well I blocked off the EGR valve and noticed an immediate gain in power. I'd say 80% improvment in the engines proformance. Only issue now is that the engine seems to crank over alot before it fires and then starts. It has always fired and started fast. Do you think that the timing might have to be tweeked ? Thanks for all the usefull info provided on this forum!

I just did this to my truck, best 99 cent and 1 hour time upgrade on this motor by far. I just cut out block off plates for the exaust manifold and the upper plennum out of steel i had laying around. Now i was reading some stuff about the cold start injector, does that have to unplugged for part of this? or were we talking about 2 seperate subjects

They are talking about two different things. Leave the cold start injector in place, unless its sticking it won't cause any problems.

and let me post again.. I hate my egr. Stupid hesitation and stumbling is back.

Test it by putting it under a vacuum, as per the FSM.

Yes just plug the hose and you're done (to an extent) If you don't have to get smogged, remove the intire EGR assembly, clear some of that engine clutter up.

K, so I did this(plugged the vacuum line) and have driven around 30 miles or so...coolant temp has actually gone down some. Not much, but I'll update more after a tank or two.

The temp difference due to the EGR should be the combustion temp, not the coolant temp.

True, but if combustion temp is higher, the coolant temp would be higher. Or am I oversimplifying?
